Walruskin

Deep in the heart of the vast and infested oceans, hidden amidst crashing waves and misty horizons, lie the remote fishing villages of the Walruskin. These tribal communities have lived for generations in harmony with the sea, their lives intricately woven with the rhythms of the tides and the bounty of the depths. The Walruskin are organized into small, tight-knit tribal communities, each inhabiting a rocky, isolated island or a floating settlement made from lashed-together driftwood and boats. These villages are often located in regions teeming with marine life, ensuring a bountiful supply of food and resources. Leadership within Walruskin tribes often falls to those who display wisdom, prowess in hunting, or exceptional skills in navigating the treacherous waters. Elders are respected as the keepers of ancient knowledge.   However, The Walruskin are known for their insular and reclusive way of life. They are wary of outsiders, especially those who venture too close to their territories uninvited. Their distrust stems from centuries of protecting their communities from pirates, sea monsters, and other threats that venture into their waters. While they prefer to keep to themselves, the Walruskin do engage in limited trade with passing ships. Rare goods from the ocean depths, such as precious pearls, exotic seafood, and exquisite coral carvings, are highly sought after in distant markets.   The Walruskin bears a striking resemblance to walruses of the ocean depths. Towering at heights of 6 to 7 feet, their massive frames are well-suited to the challenges of their aquatic existence. Their skin, thick and blubbery, offers both insulation against the frigid waters they call home and a natural defense against the harsh elements of the sea. The coloration of their skin varies, ranging from pale gray to deep brown, often adorned with mottled patterns reminiscent of the textures of coastal rocks and the ceaseless waves. But it is their ivory tusks that truly distinguish them; these elongated, formidable protrusions emerge from their mouths, serving as both tools for hunting and symbols of status among their tribes. The larger and cleaner the tusks, the more renown you’d gain.
