Naga - D&D 5e Race

Long ago, Nagas were large serpents that roamed the world. They are believed to be distant descendants of Jörmungandr, the World Serpent. Their lineage carried his power, being able to bind to the World Tree's roots themselves; allowing them to read the souls of people. However, their form and destiny changed when the Goddess of Ash and Summer, Magenta, saw their potential. She imbued them with the fire of ambition, reshaping their bodies and soul. Magenta's blessing changed them into beings of both beauty and danger, granting them intelligence but at the cost of no longer being connected to their World Father.   Nagas have an elegant, elvish upper body adorned with one or two horns. Their lower half is a long, serpentine body, covered in scales that shimmer with grey or white ash-like tones.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Size: You are a Medium size creature   Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Natural Weapons: Your fanged maw and constricting serpentine body are natural weapons, which counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient.   If you hit with your bite, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, and your target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the target takes 1d4 poison damage.   If you hit with your constrict attack, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, and the target is grappled (escape DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and you can't constrict another target.   Speed Burst: By lowering your body to the ground and propelling yourself with your arms, you can move more quickly for a time. As a bonus action on your turn, you can double your walking speed until the end of your turn. You also give disadvantage to opportunity attacks from creatures for the rest of the turn.   Poison Immunity: You are immune to poison damage and can't be poisoned.   Poison Affinity. You gain proficiency with the poisoner's kit, and medicine.

Nagas evolve through rituals or meditation, often needing to perform sacred rites of combat or conquer other snake-like creatures. The evolution causes them to increase in speed and improved constriction.
