“Stone that remembers thunder, and sings it back to the world.” — Dwarven proverb
Thundermetal is a rare, magically conductive alloy found deep within echoing caverns and geosonic chambers far below the earth. It is neither wholly metal nor stone, but a strange fusion of resonant ores, sound-infused crystals, and subterranean magical energy.
Appearance
Thundermetal has a muted grey coloration with a silky matte finish. When tapped or struck, it gives off a clear, bell-like tone that resonates unnaturally long for a metal its density. Under certain lighting, delicate ripple patterns—like the rings of sound waves—can be seen shifting just beneath its surface.
Properties
Resonant Memory. Thundermetal absorbs and retains vibrations, sounds, and even magical echoes over time. It can be enchanted with sonic or divinatory effects easier and is a favored medium for echo and sound based magic, such as echolocation, sound traps, or auditory illusions.
Vibration Conduction. When worked properly, thundermetal items can transmit or enhance sound-based effects. A blade made of thundermetal might hum as it cuts, or a wall panel could be enchanted to record conversations in a room.
Magical Affinity. The alloy naturally resonates with sound based Weave in frequencies often aligned with divination and evocation schools. Enchantments laid into thundermetal have a curious tendency to “activate” more responsively or last longer than expected when tied to sound or detection.
Origin
Thundermetal is believed to form only in specific conditions: deep beneath the earth, where seismic activity and magical confluences have infused resonant ores with latent magical energy. The Dwarves oif the North were the first to mine, refine and discover its unique properties. First discovered in a cave of a High mountain, the cave complex is located at the top of the Mountain, in a place where lightning strikes frequently meanwhile storms.
