The Legend
Legends say that after Lathander, the god of dawn and rebirth, ascended to godhood over 3,000 years ago, there was a man on the verge of death who prayed to Pelor for another chance at life. But his prayer went unanswered, Pelor was bound by the will of her father, the Crow King, god of Death.
When the man died, a small golden token with his name engraved on it appeared in his palm. It depicted a golden sun rising from behind mountains and clouds, the Dawn. At the same moment he passed, the man was reborn with the same soul and his memories intact.
His name was Lazarus, and the token in the legend became known as a Lazarus Token, symbolizing that a person is chosen to be reborn by Lathander's divine will.
Beliefs
It is said that if someone finds their own Lazarus Token, they are granted a chance to speak directly with Lathander by offering the token in exchange for an audience with the god.
Proven facts
These tokens truly exist, though they are extremely rare. They are made of pure gold and bathed in godly light, rendering them nearly indestructible. Because of their legendary significance and material worth, some have tried to replicate them through horrific means—torturing victims and brainwashing them to pray to Lathander as their lives slowly slip away.
However, such methods almost never succeed.
