The Dark Arts
Magic is a free art that any living being can learn. Despite this, some magic practices are deemed too dangerous or immoral and, in turn, are banned and considered dark arts. These arts may place a spell-caster in jail for performing them.
Necromancy
The most obvious dark art, necromancy is the act of raising the dead through magic. It is also considered the act of draining ones life force, the act of stealing a spirit or soul, and the act of manipulating dark energy primarily found in the petals of death. Necromancy was banned long ago before the Primordial Era due to people finding it immoral and religiously wrong.Waxmancy
Discovered in 1998AA by ilithid cult leader Mafus Ruun, waxmancy is the practice of transforming puddles of wax into dangerous creatures, elementals, and spirits. Waxmancy was banned in 1987AA by the kingdoms around the world due to how dangerous it was and the attack that was recently held on the surface world by ilithid cult Gephrux Queldezanu.Druidry
Druidry was banned in 6XX by the Clergy of Lightblood when they killed Xera Xintayo, as they believed druidry would be used to kill their divine Okaya. Despite the art not being immoral or dangerous, druidry is illegal in all Alliance civilizations and most Magnun civilizations.Shaman Art
Shaman Art was banned in 0XX at the end of the Druidic War, four years after Androxys Avonis was killed. The manipulation of spirits and souls, like necromancy, was deemed immoral by the druidic citizens and was banned in all Druid civilizations. Now, Shaman Art is mainly only banned in Magnun civilizations, though it is frowned upon by society to practice it.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
