Sunspear Starship - SNSPR 001-4
Power Generation
The Sunspear was outfitted with Orion's Embrace's own micro scale power generator. A small scale thermal generator, utilising the, at the time, recent discovery and capability of nuclear fission to create nuclear fission, releasing heat and energy, evaporating the water around the fission chamber, spinning turbines and generating electical energy to power the ships systems. The Sunspear is also outfitted with a backup battery system capable of 30 minutes of full system flight, or 3 hours of low system flight; only the engines and oxygen systems being turned on in this event.
Propulsion
Like most Human Made Space Craft the Sunspears are propelled by Chemical Rockets. The Sunspears are outfitted with two large jet engines at the back of the ship, for breaching the atmosphere and movement in space, and accompannied by a trio of three sub engines, one attached on each wing, and one nestled between the large engines, for inner atmosphere flight and propulsion. The engines of the wings are outfitted with rotators to allow for vertical take of and landing, VTOL.
Later versions of the Sunspear ships were outfitted with Origin Drive's allowing for FTL travel around the system, though the drives were not efficient or cost effective to run at the time of the Sunspear's creation.
Additional & auxiliary systems
The Sunspear's are outfitted with both a Newton Generator for artifical gravity generation during outer atmopsheric travel, and a small life support system. The life support system is not strong enough for prolonged trips outside the atmosphere, with enough mainly to bounce between Earth and Mars before needing to resupply the oxygen tanks and filtration systems.
