South-Western Wastes
Located in the south-western part of the former United States, the SW Wastes is just one part of the wider region known as "The Wastes," a coloquial term for the badlands that now covers much of the known country. It is an unlivable land with harsh ecology and geography that is best left alone. While possibly exaggerated, it is known by most that some of the land is made uninhabitable largely to its radioactive and possibly unwieldy magical environment. Legends of strange creatures have always covered the US, but in these days where old fiction is now fact, it is unknown what truly lives out there. Most travel in groups, with high security, or not at all to get across the region.
Geography
While much of the region hasn't changed geologically, thanks to changing sea levels and shifting waterways, the formerly arid and drought filled region as seen more greenery, though water is still treated preciously. The area is rich with minerals and clay. Despite it's increase in renewed lakes, rivers, and other water sources, the earth is still known to be hard and unproductive to farming techniques not suited for desert living.
