Farhome
The third body in orbit around the star Halcyon. Designated 'Farhome' by Mentor, the genius of the UNCV Far Horizons. For all intents and purposes 'Farhome' appeared to be an Earth like world orbiting at the same distance from its primary as Earth (1 AU), having a near similar axial tilt (23.3 in comparison with Earths 23.44 degree) and similar size (circumference).
Farhome has several major landmasses, a southern polar landmass and numerous archipelagos scattered in the tropics and equatorial regions. It's two moons, Diana and Aradia, orbit Farhome on different planes. Diana, the largest, orbits on an ecliptic while Aradia the smaller orbits along the meridian. Both moons are smaller than the Earth's but are of sufficient mass to have some impact on the tides of Farhome.
Currently settlement of Farhome has been limited to an equatorial archipelago which Mentor deemed the best option for settlement. The various abundant flora and fauna along with some introduced species should hopefully provide a significantly beneficient ecosphere for the settlers. And the island chain should be sufficient enough space for the colonists of the Far Horizon to build their new home and eventually civilization upon.
No sentient life has been detected on Farhome and as best as Mentor can tell there are no signs of sentient life having evolved there. The Archipelago on which the colonists have settled are sufficiently close to two other landmasses as well another neighbouring island chain which as time passes and the colony grows should provide ample room for expansion.
For the moment Mentor has keep the Far Horizons in a stable orbit while the colonists establish their new home on the world below. A significant proportion of the crew have also joined them while a skeleton crew remains aboard the colony vessel. There purpose is to maintain systems and alonside Mentor attempt to work out specifically where they now are in time and space in relation to where they should have been. And also find out how on earth did they get here...
