Session 5

Our session begins with a dream of a smoldering pyre and a storm biding its time. Then Fulmin awakes.

The party gathers their things and starts asking around about what may have caused the fiend to attack the town, as well as what the strange flag they are heading toward might entail. For the demon, they find out that it had appeared suddenly and as if from a distance. And for their destination, they learn that they are moving toward something called The Wavebreaker Fields, the site of a great battle during The Dawn War. It has since become a cursed land, watched over by the Church of Iri.

The stagecoach sets out once more. On the way toward the fields, the party finds more signs of destruction laid in the wake of the demon. Everything seems to indicate that it must have come from the fields, but they gain no information on what its purpose may have been. Once at the field, the party finds the Iri'an church and its two custodians: Master Scrivener Lain, an old and gentle-spoken man, and Spirit Attendant Michelle, a young (and quite hot) warrior of the church.

Lain explains that the church's job here is to oversee a ritual that keeps the undead inside the field from spreading, but that their work has been disrupted by a creature called a Griefwarden. The beast collects the spirit of the dead and uses it to conjure and control fiends. An expedition led by White Exorcist Nilorin was sent into the fields to stop it, but this was weeks ago, and they never returned. The party takes up the call for help and, after having their weapons blessed, enter the fields to track down and stop the monster.

And after a hurried push through undead-infested trenches, they have finally come eye-to-eye with their demonic quarry.
