Session 2

General Summary

Moving through the forest at a hurried pace, our band of adventurers followed the tracks of the people who had kidnapped Elric Hexgraft.
Bright expressed worry and trepidation because she had never been in a fight before. The rest of the group assured her that she need only hide in the background and they would swiftly deal with whatever foe they might face.

It's not long before they come face to face with their foes, a group of ruffians led by a changeling dressed in all black, sporting a mask of brass and gold.
After a quick exchange, the changeling makes it clear that they have no intention of returning Hexgraft, and battle ensues.

The party has the upper hand, aided first by the fact that it turns our that Bright is much more adept at combat than she might have through. A voice in her head bids her to "KILL" and her mechanical body adapts to give her the tools needed to do so. Secondly, the party is reinforced by a young goliath woman who crashes through the woods and calls Griffinroosts sheathed sword to her hand.

Perhaps from facing overwhelming odds, or maybe because they got what they needed, the changeling immediately decides to teleport away from the battle. Taking a few blows, the party manages to bring down enough opponent that only two remain. Upon being urged to yield, the man name Conrad decides to do just that. As battle dies down the party interrogates Conrad, who is more than willing to share everything he knows in return for his life.

He explains that:
- Him and the defeated gang were known as The Crashing Wave.
- They were hired by an anonymous benefactor they are certain are The Penderghasts.
- Their job was to get weapons crafted by Elric Hexgraft and deliver them to a ship in Braveport, where they used to have their base of operation.
- The Changeling that led them used the codename "Midnight" and was their sole contact.
- Midnight wanted something from Hexgraft, when they didn't get it they went ahead with the kidnapping.
- They were supposed to bring Elric to the regular ship, but Conrad suspects its going to be long gone since Midnight escaped.
- He doesn't know much about the Penderghasts other than what the rumors say: Their a powerful organization that you don't fuck with.
- When asked who might know more, he points to the bigger criminal organizations of the country, giving the name Faragroth, who runs The Black Crowns up in Steadfast.

Satisfied with his answer, the party lets him and his associate go. Pent slips them two gold pieces and tells them to head to Spinnersfield and find a tavern. They are more than happy to do so.

The party then takes some time to both discuss what has just happened, and introduce themselves to Maaria. She explains that she is the last carrier of Tara's will, here to return her soulsword to her clan. They then decide to bring Elric along and head back to Spinnersfield.

Once back in the stagewagon, the party goes to sleep, but Bright and Maaria take some time trying to contac the voices that have been talking to them.
Maaria has a brief conversation with the soulsword, which seems to be an aged warrior spirit who mischievously hides information from her. But he explains that he was made by Maarias mentor, was gifted to Tara, and is now ready to return to the tribe.

Bright tries to contact the voice inside her she has now heard twice. While she gets no response, she manages to figure out that it feels like there were two separate voices. And focusing on them, they weren't really voices. More like different styles of handwriting.
