Day of the Creation & Day of the Joining

The Day of Creation and Day of the Joining are two related holidays in the The Fantasme that fall during the beginning and end of the month of Dormis (December in the Earth calendar). It is a set of holidays that are celebrated by those who worship Fanenta and Suhkor.

Traditions & Rituals

The holiday celebrates the day the Gods were created and acceded to the Overworld. As such the day focuses on praising the gods and emulating the gifts they've been given. The holiday carries with it themes of love, thankfulness, generosity, and good will.

Day of Creation

The Joining Walk

As a way to emulate the journey the Gods made to unite, communities will often form groups to walk to a near by Fanentan temple or shrine. This will often be a sort of parade type event, where people will sing and play instruments as the walk. People the parade pass by are welcome to join in the walk if they so choose. It's normal for people to put on their nicest clothes and wait by the main road to join the parade as they pass by.   It's important to know what kind of parade you are joining. Some parades are loud and boisterous, with people in bright outfits and loud music and having a good time. Where as other parades may be more quiet and reflective, with people singing in harmony together. It's important to be respectful to these groups as everyone performs the Joining Walk differently.   The Joining walk will usually be lead by a local Cleric most often a Priestess, to represent Fanenta or Suhor. In the Empire, it is always a priestess, as it's heresy to portray Fanenta as a man.

Temple Feast

When people arrive to a temple or shrine, it's typical for the caretakers and clerics of the temple to host an event at the location. This usually involves a brief sermon, before hosting a feast for the community. It will often be hosted in the dining hall of temples, or as a picnic around shrines. Anyone in the community is invited to these events, and it's seen as a good way for the community to grow closer.   People who choose to celebrate at home will also serve a feast after a moment of prayer. This will often be excluded to family members and friends, though there are cases of people hosting feasts for the poor or homeless who may not be able to make it to a temple.

Day of Joining

Love and Gift Giving

The Day of the Joining is when people celebrate their love for each other, romantic and platonic alike. This applies to not just love for a partner, but love for family and friends. People usually express this appreciation for each other by giving their loved ones gifts. People can often also go on outings or dates with their loved ones too.   The Day of Joining is also known for being a time where new relationships blossom. It's typical for young lovers to come out about their feelings for each other one this day by giving them a gift or asking them on a date.

The Creation and Joining

The holiday is inspired by the tale of the creation of Fanenta and Suhkor;   It is said that Alpha & Omega created the twin gods to act as spiritual guides for the mortals of the planet, gods who could communicated with the humans and pass on the knowledge of the gods to them. The gods were born on opposite sides of the world, but where able to sense each other.   The twin gods rose to their feet and proceeded to make walk around the planet to meet the other, a long trek that took a month to complete. In the journey, Fanenta and Suhkor acquired a following. A band of dedicated worshipers who followed the footsteps of the gods, encouraging them along the way. When the Gods reunited, they embraced and rose together into the Overworld ushering in a new age of enlightenment for the mortals.

History

The holidays have been celebrated in Dualist countries for centuries, however, after the The Hundreds Year War and the worship of Suhkor lost favor in the Empire of Fanentous, practice of the Day of the Joining declined until it was no longer recognized as an official holiday. Recently, along with the ban of Suhkor worship, celebrating the Day of the Joining as also been banned, and many of it's traditions have been moved to the Day of Creation.   Some dualist countries outside of the Empire still practice the worship of Suhkor, thus these changes don't apply to them.

Changes

While in the past the holiday used to be separated and the month in between was meant to stay in the spirit of the season, after the popularity of Suhkor dwindled, so did those who celebrated the Day of the Joining. Instead, the traditions were absorbed into the Day of the Creation and all practiced on the same day, just with out Suhkors name attached.

Style & Decoration

People in the Fantasme will usually decorate and dress up for the season. White and Gold are the colors commonly associated with Fanenta, thus it's a common color scheme to see around the time of year, and the white of matches the winter snow that falls this time of year. Outfits are usually designed to be warm, but also very flashy and bright, with gold jewelry and decorative pieces. Some will even sew in small gold bells into the outfit so that it make a musical chime when they dance.   Bells and chimes are also a common way to decorate the home, as well as other golden or brass trinkets. White and Yellow flowers are also seen often this time of year.
