Day 1
My brother was right there was a hidden research lab here. Well mostly a good deal of it has been caved in, but some of the machinery still works. Some of the scrolls I have found lead this place to be a place to create stripped soul warriors. I think this might have been one of the dozen areas where the warforge was created from. I wonder if we could make a bioengineered Steamjack. That way it can be healed in battle with healing spells much like the warforged can.
Day 45
Bandit found me. I guess they've been using this as a hideout. Well they will be no bother now as I have captured them. I think I will use them for experiments, they are criminals after all it is not like anyone is going to miss them.
Day 100
So I've dug out one of the rooms that caved in a bit.It is an amplifier to control things from a distance, as well as it strips a soul from a person. From studies, we know the warforge was created in a process where volunteers had their souls taken and put in bio-machine bodies. However, even the armies of Bahamut release the soul would not take unless the soul was stripped of memories and personality. I think the heat chamber here was used to help capture the soul of their forced volunteers and strip the soul and transfer it to a machine.
Day 125
The machine is broken. It can take a soul but all it does is create a very powerful electrical charge. So there is too much damage to the machine and I can't get access to the deeper part of this lab. However, if I can create a soul-bound steam jack. But I can use this machine to create power crystals. It takes time to reconfigure this machine but a powerful bigger version of my power crystal in my warcaster armor. I could still create one of the most powerful warforges.
Day 245
My brother sent me the gear I required, also let me keep the people who brought the supplies to use for my studies. Some of the notes he sent me are from lore from before the dragon wars. Something about the Ashfell, This will require more reading but my brother's theory believes this could create undead. The forces of Tiamiet did have undead shock troops. It would explain what they did with body. I have already started creating a large pile of them for my experiments.
Day 340
Well, it looks like one of my experiments has been bit by a werewolf. Imagine a steamjack with the ability to heal itself, making it able to have that rage locked in and controlled by a single user. Now to figure out how to make a living steamjack and keep it under control.
Day 367
I figure out how lycanthrope is spread by bodily fluids through a bite, direct contact of blood, and I’m going to assume sex. Since shifters are often at least several generations removed from a lycanthrope parent. So my theory of extracting werewolf blood and injecting it into another does successfully infect most of my samples. I will need to do refinement infect 100% of the time and I also need to make a cure for it. As I need a way to prevent me from accidentally contracting the, my supply of remove curse scrolls is running low, and asking for a large amount of them will draw suspicion. Even if my brother requests them for me on my behalf.
Day 384
I have created and am able to replicate an alchemical cure Lycanthropy, this will make it safe when I work on my new warforges. However, the heavy snowfall made it hard for food supplies and new subjects to work on to be delivered to me. My food supplies are in danger and I stop feeding my prisoners. However, I took strips of meat from one of my subjects and cooked it. It's not bad, it's like bacon but sweet. I take strips and dry them. I’m sure I can keep them alive long enough to keep the meat from going bad. This should be enough to keep me alive through the harshest of winters
Day 420
The long winter finally let up. It may be spring but there is plenty of snow up here, the pass is open again and trade is flowing again. I have taken to raid camps for fresh supplies. Also, my brother sent several dim wits he higher to give me supplies as well become a new subject to work on. I will remind my brother not to use adventuring groups. One of them was a fairly powerful cleric of the Raven Queen. She figured out I was doing some necromantic studies here. I killed her and her body is nonresponsive to my necromantic spells, however, she makes some fine jerky and the rest of her friends. Well time to figure out how to fuse machines with their bodies
Day 500
Some of my werewolf experiments escape. The storm’s lightning struck the tower and a bolt of that energy struck the werewolf in question along with the soul energy I infused in his core. This causes him to teleport out of his chains. I only had part of a chassis built and part of his engine built. He freed two others but the werewolf rage of them had them fight each other. He ran off into the storm that night. All efforts to recover him failed. However, having the ability to teleport is pretty impressive. This setback may have been a blessing this whole time.
Day 543
Had an encounter with a frost giant. From what I can make it a young one. However, his size and strength would be a powerful base for my warforge project. I have figured out enough of the fusing metal to flesh enough to make this work. Now just to scale it up to literal giant size.
Day 567
I have finally got the frost giant, transporting the body was a pain and required several scrolls.
Now to start with his body. Also, the meat from his legs and arm will last me a long time if dried.
Day 630
The Giant Steamjackis a terror to behold. Attacks are brutally effective and it successfully transfers Lycanthropy creating within days any survivors would turn into werewolf and the chaos would continue. Within enemy lines. For as large as it is it is surprisingly stealthy picking up traits from its werewolf side. Normal humanoid size versions of these would be a formidable foe and cause devastation to our enemies. I am sure my brother and the general would be proud. Now to build and send the blueprints to my brother.
Day 665
My brother said the blueprints are useful and they generally are working on putting them to good use. My brother wants me to work on the ashfall and see if I can figure out how to create them
I will send my Steamjack to collect more samples. The great thing about these cross bio steamjacks is they can think for themselves. Tell them to bring something they will learn and bring you said object. Unlike full mechanical steamjacks that need every little thing commanded. This extra bit of freedom will allow warcaster to do more spells to reinforce their jack and lay hell upon the enemy.
Day 700
My brother is upset that I have not created what he needs. He is going to release his project any day now. He will stop sending supplies until I have a positive result on the ashfall.
Day 784
I have had some success. I have created creatures that look like the stories of the Ashfall but it is not them. There is still mindless undead that burns when they attack and turn to a pile of ash when destroyed. These texts and lore I read suggest the ash fall is tied to a long-forgotten Ember War. Where a creature called the ash king came from a different plane and invaded.
Day 830
I captured several followers of Vecna. The missing hand and eye were dead giveaways. I befriended one of them and explained what I was doing. Over dinner, they told me that they believed Vecna found the tomb of the Ash King and used its essence to create the sword for his second in command, Kas. I really like Kenth and his group, but they can stop progress and I need subjects. Also, I see there is a new camp of potential subjects.
