Player primer

Welcome!

If you are reading this you either are interested in becoming a player in Fairybook, or you are just curious to learn more about this world.

Whichever it is, be welcome.

In this document I will be focusing on giving important information about Fairybook that everyone should know. Another thing that you will find here is any information you might need to know about the campaign.

Before we start the campaign we will have a session 0. In that session all players will meet and we will agree to some ground rules. This will ensure that we all enter the campaign with the same expectations. You can bring ideas for characters to that session but don't make a full character yet as it might not fit the campaign or other players.

  • The world:
  • It is similar to our world. This means that a lot of the landscape will look very familiar. However, there will be changes to make sure that it will still be great to discover places.
  • The world includes all main characters (hero's and villains alike) from the Disney universe. Some will be fully as you know them, others might have extra's or surprise you in another way.
  • Magic is important and all around. However, the importance might depend on the character and/or location you encounter.
  • Sapient species: All species of D&D 5E are accepted and live in this world. However, there are places where they might not be as accepted. Just as we have here in our own world.
  • Factions and countries: There will be different factions and countries. Some will be public in my world building but most will stay hidden until you meet them during the adventure.
  • Magic and technology: Magic is common in Fairybook but not everyone has it. Not all creatures like the use of magic just as not everyone likes chocolate.

  • House rules:
  • We will use D&D 5E. All regular books are allowed. Just as any homebrew that was shown to me prior to creating any details.
  • if your game uses homebrew rules, add them here! It’s also a good place to add—or link to—any character creation information you want your players to have.
  • All players will make a character that fits in this Disney/Fairytale world. However, you can not play as a known character from this universe. You will have to create a unique and new character.

  • Genre: The main genre of the world will be (dark) fantasy, just as you can expect from a D&D world. There is absolutely a high level of magic in this world. You will see the magic that you are used to from the original characters but some characters might surprise you.
  • Tone: The tone of the world is somewhere in the middle of dark and bright. Generally speaking it's a world like ours, there are places that are good to live but also places where it is difficult to live. Magic can change the course of certain creatures for better or worse, with or without them wanting so.
  • Mood: The general feeling of the world is very similar to our own. Some places are very beautiful and easy to live in, others are full of heartbreaks. There will absolutely be horror and dark events, just as dark humor. But there will also be room for fun and light sessions. It also depends on how the players want to play.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
