The Worldlost Phenomenon

Sometimes people from other worlds find their way to Fairtree; sometimes they are drawn to it. There's usually a reason unique to each individual, and more than a few were pulled there by the needs of somebody with Phasal Magic. Such newcomers often stand out from the tourists, and as a whole, Fairtree is inclined to treat them gently. This doesn't mean they won't be robbed or taken advantage of, but there are those who look out for them, including other Worldlost. Before his retirement, the Prince offered a modest reward to anybody who guided a Worldlost to his castle; after a chat with the newcomer, they may then be directed to resources to help them adapt to their new life.   There is no known way for a Worldlost to return to their native world, although surprisingly few try. Those that do feel like they've left something behind tend to hang around Archmages, or the Shiptowers.
