Dark Fairy

Dark Fairies are easily the most stigmatized, finding themselves shrouded by persistent rumors that may prove difficult to shake. While it may be true that many gravitate towards mysterious dark magic, it doesn't mean that it's evil, just different. These elusive fairies prefer the darkness. If they ever leave their home in Nyctoflicide Forest, they are found sifting through the shadows. Sometimes it's good to be hidden in plain sight.

These misunderstood fairies face the weight of misconceptions due to their affiliation with 'darker' magic, often receiving claims of 'dark' emotions such as malice and blood lust. However, Dark Fairies are very in tune with said emotions. They embrace their unique identity, being unabashedly themselves no matter what others may believe. They are undeterred by societal judgment and welcome their heritage and powers with open arms. Embracing these 'darker' emotions and skills does not make them 'inherently evil', just different in the way that they handle and respond to things.

Dark Fairies are relentless seekers of knowledge, exploring unconventional means to unlock further potential. They make use of inherited powers alongside other avenues of obtaining magic. These fairies are driven to discovering and developing uncharted powers in a way that other fairies may not consider. To them, being in tune with death and the dead is not somber, rather something to be embraced and celebrated.

Things can't always be light and cheery. The shadows that Dark Fairies offer are vital to the balance that makes up Faetalia. Though with such a mysterious nature, it is hard to say exactly how Dark Fairies contribute to the world. Regardless, they stand as a testament to the strength of being unapologetically oneself.

Powers

Each fairy gets an Inherited Power that they are born with. A fairy will then do their best to master their abilities within that power set and eventually develop Talents. Inherited Powers naturally start off weak, and becoming stronger in one's abilities comes with the discovery of one's talent.

Inherited Powers

  1. Shadow Magic – The ability to manipulate and conjure shadows and the darkness around them.
  2. Death / Decay Magic – The ability to control and manipulate death and decay.
  3. Insect Communication – The ability to communicate with insects. While Dark Fairies like their creepy crawlies, they can still overhear a conversation between two beautiful butterflies as well.

You may only select one Inherited Power, and it must be one of these three. You are able to be more creative with talents, which will stem from the Inherited Power.

Talents

Each talent stems from the fairy's Inherited Power, and vary in rarity, with some talents harder to accomplish than others.

For an extended list of Dark Fairy talents, head on over to Dark Talents!

There is plenty of room for creativity when it comes to talents! As long as it in some way relates to the inherited power, and isn't too overpowered, we are excited to see what you come up with!

However, there will also be a level lock when it comes to coming up with your own talents. You must reach level 5 within the server for your fairy to acquire the talent, but you can still put on your doc that they are aspiring for a specific talent that isn't listed here!
