Session XIV: Mission impossible Report
General Summary
Returning to Little Oak from their excursion to see Nib and finish handling Zarak, the group began planning their assault on Loomlurch.
They decided to do recon on the building and environs. Lemli turned into a rat and explored the outside of the tree, and Wallace, Tootie, and Mirum went to visit the market outside of the tree.
Recon began with Lemli entering the foyer and immediately failed to be stealthy. She knocked over the tea service on the sitting table. She left the inside of the tree and went to the west side to explore outside.
She was confronted by three giant poisonous snakes. She charmed them and convinced them to let her go by feeding them a den of bunnies. Continuing to explore the tree. She was able to find the room with the paintings of the Hourglass Coven, including the painting of Skabatha Nightshade that Bavlorna Blightstraw wanted. She found the kitchen and determined the location of one of the children, plus a prisoner. Skabatha's bedroom was found but was empty. Two more children were found in the sleeping quarters, along with several of the tin soldier guards.
While Lemli was exploring, the others met Chucklehead , Kro'ah's cousin and the head of the market. Chucklehead was distracted by voices in his head that he attributed to the maggot in his toffy apple head. He offered the group candy which they accepted after the group gave him two campestri as a gift. Shiro decided to eat his candy and shrank to half size. The others traded various items for additional candy, and Thurmst extracted another as a donation to his god. The group met at another fairy ring south of Loomlurch. When they were all returned, they planned their assault. Wallace lead the campestri the group was keeping in Mirum's bag of holding to the market with his flute. When he arrived he gave each of the 8 a dose of the polymorph potion. Each had a different reaction. They immediately started dancing about and eating candy from the stalls
While the distraction was being made outside, Shiro and Will entered the foyer. They made it through the room and peeked through the door to the next room. They spotted the Boggles hiding in the shadows in the corners of the room.
Thurmst and Scaldedstar moved around the east side of the tree. They wandered through a patch of redcaps. Two of them awoke, climbed out of the ground, and attacked. No one could manage to land a successful blow until our party was successful. They then moved into position to enter the kitchen.
The rest of the group moved into position as well.
