Opposites attract...

A brilliant elven healer, who was cursed with an incurable disease by a cruel demon, worked for years trying to cure her own wasting sickness, researching and experimenting, but could not solve it. Eventually, she read of a dark castle on a floating island where an immortal lord hoarded treasures and secrets, and out of desperation, figured that she might as well try.   Gabriel welcomed her, though oddly, as he didn't really know how to react to having willing guests. Eventually, as she perused his libraries and laboratories, they became close, and she told him of her problem. He didn't have a cure-- disease had never been an area of his study, as his condition rendered him immune to them-- but he allows her to stay and research as long as she liked. They fell into a romance over the next year, awkward at first, but ever-deeper. She was happy for the first time in a long time, however, her condition just kept getting worse. One day, she was unable to rise from bed. She felt her life leaving her, and her lover offered her the one thing he had never proposed-- she take his blood, and join him in immortality. Feeling her life fade, she accepts.
