As Iedos breaks the wards encircling Castle Storm, he is injured by Voreth, one of the Cult's leaders. Before he is driven mad and forced into service as a brain-host, Gabriel shows up and kills Voreth and the other besieging generals. He takes in the unconscious, injured tiefling and grants him the hospitality of Castle Storm until he recovers.   Over Iedos' convalescence, they begin interrogating each other-- an arcanist and a vampire lord, making dinner conversation. Eventually, and with much of the social heavy lifting being done by his wife, Gabriel and Iedos become friends, of a sort. They agree that the cultists, and their eldritch masters, pose a great threat to world, and that something must be done about it.
