Hephaestus - God of Craftsmanship
Hephaestus is the God of Craftsmanship and Invention.
He is a solitary figure, preferring the company of tools to that of people. He is also a stubborn deity with a fiery temper used to keep others at bay, though Hephaestus is one of the more supportive Gods, aiding and inspiring many mortal creations. He is a master crafter, spending his time building and creating.
Hephaestus’ origin has many versions, the most common is that he was created by the God Khronos, but was created flawed, ugly and crippled, and so was discarded. But Hephaestus was creative and resourceful, in his exile he created tools to help him walk and returned to the other Gods, taking his place as part of the Pantheon.
Hephaestus is commonly worshipped by Artisans, from blacksmiths to leatherworkers, usually for guidance or inspiration for their creations.
In Dwarvish culture Hephaestus is more commonly known as Moradin, the Patron God of Dwarves. As Moradin he also represents Dwarvish honour, creativity and ingenuity.
