Gith

The Gith are alien humanoids native to the Astral Sea, they are survivors of a long enslavement by the Illithid, eventually revolting against their masters, lead by Gith, the name of the rebellion's leader and the origin of the species name.   Due to being experimented on by the Illithid, Gith have innate psionic abilities.    After the Giff won their freedom, two factions rose among them, disagreeing on what kind of civilization they would forge. The Githyanki and the Githzerai. The disagreement between the two factions quickly flared into open hostility, splitting the species in two. While both factions despise Illithid and strive to hunt them down and kill them on sight, the rest of their society is dramatically different.   The Githyanki became ruthless warriors, pillagers and raiders of many worlds in the Astral Sea. Githyanki society is extremely well organised and orderly. They have a martial and meritocratic structure, with no regard for blood ties, and with both males and females training heavily in magic and combat. Raiding Illithid strongholds is considered a rite of passage.   The Githzerai on the other hand believed that the path to an enlightened civilization lay in seclusion, not conflict. They carved out a stronghold for themselves on the plane of Limbo. The Githzerai are an ascetic and spiritual people, though the Githzerai are pacifists by nature, they are known to send out squads to destroy Illithid outposts.

Appearance:

  Gith have slim bodies and angular features, they have serrated pointed ears, flat noses and spotted yellowish skin. Some male Gith are also able to grow facial hair.   Complexion: Gith skin tones are usually tones of yellow but can also be a light green or an orange complexion. Gith also have naturally occurring black spots and markings across their skin.   Hair: Gith hair colour ranges from black to brown, commonly turning gray or white with age.   Eyes: Gith usually have yellow coloured eyes.

Maturity:

  Gith mature much faster than Humans do, reaching adulthood by the age of 15.

Reproduction:

  Gith hatch from eggs. Select Gith can asexually produce an egg annually without the need for a mate. This egg is then kept in a warm, humid environment for 7 months before it hatches.
