Asmodeus - Lord of the Nine
Asmodeus is the God of Laws, Contracts and is responsible for keeping records of all Divine and Infernal contracts and oaths ever made. Asmodeus is also the Lord of the Nine Hells, the ruler of all Devils and the Archduke of Nessus, the ninth layer of the Hells.
Asmodeus is a cunning and manipulative deity, they are said to have told the first lie and are known to be cruel and sadistic. Despite being one of the Dark Deities they are not inherently malevolent, while they tend to work in opposition to the divine they are mostly self-serving and are largely motivated by spite and a desire for power instead of a desire for destruction.
Asmodeus is the primary consort of the Goddess Styx and the father of the Archdevil Glasya. Asmodeus and Styx both oversee the domain of Oaths, with Styx being their arbiter.
Because of Asmodeus’ reputation they are usually only referred to by epithets, such as “the Lord of the Nine”, “the Archduke of Nessus” or “the Father of Lies” as to avoid invoking them or drawing their attention.
Asmodeus is not worshipped outside of specific cults or Infernal Pacts. Though some may choose to invoke Asmodeus when making deals or signing contracts to make them divinely binding.
Apperance
Asmodeus is commonly depicted as a humanoid with blood red skin, curled horns, a pointed tail, slick black hair, a goatee and serrated teeth, similar in appearance to a Tiefling. They are usually depicted with bat-like wings, hooves, wearing an black iron crown, and wielding a flaming staff or a ruby sceptre. Asmodeus can also take on a monstrous appearance, a three-headed molten nightmare with flaming wings.
