Abandoned Chapel

Once a place of refuge, now a mockery of life itself. The chapel of Atheism was a centerpiece in this sector before the Meteorite fell. Now, it has been long forgotten.   When the Wanadead were told to go check up on the Huntsmen group that was sent there, they did not know what to expect. Yet, after they delved through the underbelly of the chapel, faced horrid creatures, who invested peoples bodies, and had their first encounter with a Mind Flayer, they understood what life was now like in Meteorite's Meadow and what had happened to this place of worship.

Purpose / Function

Originally built as a place to practice Atheism, it also took care of the sick and wounded.   However, in the years leading up to its ruination, the Priest Gyrus had a different goal. While still an Atheist Priest on the surface, he would hold secret meetings and sermons in the name of the Goddess Neiu. He continued to help heal people, and was seen as a sudo-saint for his healing abilities, though they were granted to him by Neiu.   When the Meteorite hit, the living area underneath the chapel was still being used to treat people who needed help. Adventures and survivors alike.

Alterations

The underbelly of the chapel was greatly expanded by Gyrus, adding in a small nook in which to worship Neiu, as well as turning on of the common areas into an experimentation chamber in which he hoped to cure zombification.

Architecture

A smaller chapel than most, it contained the main room, two long side rooms, and two back rooms. Underneath the chapel, there contained a common room, a small library, a master bedroom, an experimentation chmaber, and a study. In the back of the study, lied a secret door which opened up and lead all the way up to the main chapel room, with the altar moving out of the way to expose the secret passage.

History

Built as an established chapel of atheism, it was heralded as a place of virtue and healing for those who no longer believed in the gods. Yet, when Priest Gyrus took over, he gave a new light to chapel and allowed people to be open about their god worship. It was through this that he met his husband, Wilthan. After the Meteorite hit, Gyrus and a number of other people survived in the bunker like underbelly of the chapel. Gyrus would occationally go to the surface and that is how he found the meteorite shard. After bringing it back, he was eventually turned by a Mind Flayer leech that burrowed into his brain. As he was turning, he conducted experiments on the people who had come to him for help and he turned them into zombies to try and cure them.   Once N got wind that the chapel might house a shar of the meteorite, he sent a group of Huntmen to the chapel to hopefully retrieve it. They spent a week in the chapel and found nothing. Throughout their time, Gyrus, now a Mind Flayer, would lure them away from eachother and kill them or take them and experiment on them.   After a week of not hearing from them, N wanted to know what happened. Luckily, the Wanadead just so happened to find N and needed his help.
