Zashier Mostana

Despite his age, Zashier still maintains a lean, athletic build. He scarred, wrinkled skin alongside his somewhat trimmed hair add to his rugged aesthetic. He is often in simple, steamcast armor forged by the family intertwined with various leathers. His gruff attitude and neutral expression often make him a difficult person to read.

Zashier is an experienced warrior and a talented teacher, shown by the caliber of his students. He is skilled in a variety of techniques and martial styles, able to teach swordplay, archery, and even ki based martial arts. Despite his wide range of students, little of Zashier's own skills have been put on display during his time as the Varondel's bodyguard. He carries on his back a greatsword, and yet he has never drawn it in front of the party. Even so, he is confident in his abilities and went as far as to state that he would end Hope if need be, after she killed Morthos. During the knife throwing event aboard the Gillless Guppy, Zashier displayed a high tier of accuracy. Alcoholic beverages were noted to have had little effect on his countenance, at least visibly. Despite his apparent lax attitude, Zashier has been shown to always be aware of his surroundings with keen perceptive skills.

Much of Zashier's early life is unknown to most individuals, other than the likely possibility that he pursued some sort of martial path. Eventually, he came to the Menagerie Coast and served as a Zhelezo for some years. In a short period of time, he quickly racked up numerous accomplishments, before quitting from the position. He was soon after hired by Xerix Goldspinner to act as a bodyguard to the Varondel family and train the children of the house in swordplay. He saw the talent in Hope Varondel and helped to train her in combat skills. He valued honor and respect, attempting to instill those same values in his students. When Morthos went for a surprise attack on Hope, Zashier easily deflected the blow and punished the boy. This event was the catalyst for Morthos' departure from the family.    Later, the goblins led by Krax made their way to Gwardan and the Varondel estate, per Hope's letter of recommendation. Zashier accepted their service on behalf of the family and began to teach them in martial skills. He took advantage of their rough heritage and skills forged in the wilds to make them a formidable force within the Varondel estate. He placed this group under even more intense training than Hope had gone through, encouraging them to travel and face trials without his help. When Invictus FISH stayed at the Varondel estate during their time in Gwardan, Zashier helped train them. His focus was on passing along techniques of speed and redirection, which would allow a warrior to strike more often and more effectively in combat. He even assisted Anora in better understanding how to apply her ki through her strikes, through similar methods that Azariah had shown Anora.    Zashier encouraged the Reforged Company, led by Krax, to participate in the entry tournaments for the Heroes of the Coast tournament. He traveled alongside the Varondel family to the city of Nicodranas to help provide the Reforged Company guidance while maintaining protection for the family. He offered some points of advice throughout the event and was confident in his abilities to protect the family from any dangers. When Hope struck down Morthos, Zashier was able to recognize what had really occurred despite how far he had been from the blow. He approached Hope after the tournament and told her that she was walking down a terrible path. If she was to continue dealing in such violence, he would be the one to end his own student. Zashier showed little malice following that night as the party operated at a far more normal pace, without anymore deaths. However, he has also been known to keep his true feelings close to his chest.    Zashier continued to provide advice for his teams and was proud of the accomplishments of the Reforged Company during the tournament. He congratulated Invictus FISH and attended their after tournament party aboard their ship. Alongside another wizened mentor, Zashier proved his skills in a game of knife throwing. He seemed unaffected for the most part by any of the drinks provided during the event. He is believed to have returned to Gwardan and continuing to maintain a watch over the Varondel family while teaching the Reforged Company.
