Summer 2021, Week 4, Thursday afternoon
St. Maria University, City Centre
Storyteller
St. Maria’s University had been at the center of the first major attack by Blood Bolt on New Victoria. With the threat finally gone, the students would exhale a sigh of relief and almost immediately go back to partying and drinking as college kids do.Isaac Crysentine
Isaac had been discharged from the hospital early Thursday morning. He woke up on Tuesday but the pain and loss of blood meant he was bedridden for a few more days. That morning he arrived to campus greeted by many stares - some were of bewilderment or shock, others were of anger and disappointment. The walk through campus felt like an eternity, although keeping his eyes on the concrete in front of him and fidgeting with the oversized shirt the hospital gave him helped Isaac keep his cool. The amount of class he had already missed was astounding and he didn’t think attending any of his lectures today would get him out of that mess, so the decision was made to simply go back to his dorm room and take some time to settle in and mull over the last week. He never did make it to his dorm room, though, and instead opted to sit in one of the parks under the cool morning breeze. So much had happened, and Isaac couldn’t help but feel it was all his fault. He couldn’t entirely control how he felt, that was a fact, and it was time he came to terms with with that. People died because of him, despite his promise to keeping people alive. Isaac let the city down, he let the team and Andre down, and he let himself down. These thoughts circulated through his mind until evening set in. The flame user was still sitting at the same bench, that same stretch of path in the same park. People kept walking by with obvious stares but none dared approach him. It wasn’t until the streetlight turned on that Isaac got back up from the bench and made his way back to his room. There was a look of determination and understanding on his face, one that has seen and felt the worst in people but understood what he had to do. Isaac had given a proclamation to the world that AERI would protect New Victoria. There wasn’t time to sulk about on that damn bench. He knew what he had to do - before that, though, chicken tenders and fries from the dining hall did sound rather good at the moment.
