Lit up like a christmas tree

Summer 2021, Week 5

Friday evening

The Port, Port Victoria

Father, Callixtus VI Summanus

The moon was high in the sky, illuminating a cloudless sky. Even so with the light pollution of the city so far the inky black of the water consumed the world around. A white boat bobbed in the water, sails pulled down floating silently along. Cal enjoyed the peacefulness of such nights. There was nothing out there besides him, a few fish that were curious of the large object floating on the water's surface, and God.   Sweat dripped off the good Father's chin, as his labored breathing filled the silent night. A few days ago this would have been from his broken body. Now it was from a night of connecting with the angels. He wasn’t enough alone, and it had almost cost him his life to realize this. He was a man of God who had committed every second of his life to this war. Had forgotten the most important tenet. He was never alone, nor should he try to stand alone. He didn’t just need to be stronger, he needed to rely on God and the angel God had entrusted him with more.   As he flowed from form to form of Ta chi Cal whispered his prayers, as shut tight Callixtus moved slow, letting muscle memory pull his sore tendons into place, water wearing away at the earth. Yet when his pose straighten he struck his eyes going wide as he grasped at the angel within. Lighting sparked as his hand snapped sparking around him, illuminating the sky. Electricity covered his skin, nipped at his hairs, and rolled along the edges of his muscles, for but a moment he was lightening. An angel in the dark, lightning had struck. Going loose he let the grasp on his strength go, being human once more as he rolled into the next form. Striking at the apex of his pose letting the world see the glory of God again, electricity pulsing off the beads of sweat that rolled down his abs and dripped onto the wooden hull of the boat. Webs of power rolled off his form with the droplets of water, painting him iridescent. His dark eyes pierced white as the power struck, only to dull out as he let it go.   Hours of this, the slow push and pull drawing the power to the surface letting it take him. Riding it out like a storm. He needed control, the angel had chosen him to be its source. He to be the new master of lightning, but as long as he ignored it that would never come true. God did many things, but he did not reword one who didn’t work for good things. How Cal had forgotten this he would never know. But he wouldn’t forget again. Dragging his feet he took a breath and struck out with his palm letting the power surge, feeling the covering of his skin power chaining from his fingers to the water then sparkling across it like a spider web. He was God's light. He would burn brighter than any star, till God's enemies burned with him.
