Kid in a Candy Store

Summer 2021, Week 4

Friday midday

Randolph, City Centre

Storyteller

The alleyway was silent, the only noises that could be heard was the hustle and bustle of nearby streets. Cars racing past teenagers discussing what things they were going to buy.   A young woman pushes a bin out the back of the store into the alleyway. This happened every week at around this time, and in an hour and a half it would get picked up to be remade all over again. Loose circuits siting around and other tech snugly thrown in. "I fucking hate this job. I should just quit. I swear if there is one more Karen and her know it all teenager I am going to walk out....Don't get paid enough for this sh-" The door closed behind her hiding her complaining from someone else in the alleyway.

A face slowly rises, the little puff of white dyed hair crawling up until a pair of eyes scans the alleyway cautiously.   It's clear! Oh lets see if I got that gold. The man seemingly vanished straight into the bin a small streak of where he ran his hands inspecting all of the abandoned 'Totally fixable by normal standards' tech at impossible speeds. An old car radio, a shattered Ipad screen and a bunch of other seemingly useless junk was jammed into the mans bag, more and more and more and more. Soon the duffle was overflowing with junk and his expression was one of pure joy before he left the alley and drove away.   "Oh god I can make so much stuff so much! I'll see you next week bin."
