I've Got the Magic In Me
Summer 2021, Week 5
Monday midday
Riverview Hospital Center, City Centre
Sorin Fionn
He continues to sit and think in his hospital bed, trying to put the mental exercises the doctors provided him to good use. Everything still seems.. hazy in his memory. He can see faces, words in a book's page, places that seem familiar. But.. no idea who or what they are. Did he know the folks in the picture on his phone, the angsty-looking teen and her friend? The band? The lovely couple? He just can't remember. He had some pictures of a cat, was it his? Was the cat being taken care of if it was? He just can't remember. His spiraling thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door, followed by "Mr. Fionn, you have a few visitors!" "Oh, aye! Send 'em in!" His frown of confusion was instantly replaced with a gleeful grin. Maybe these folks could tell him a thing or two about who he was, what he meant to them.Anna Marsh
The first of the pack to rush in is an excited Anna, of course! Seeing the smile of Uncle Sorin alleviated any worries the little girl might have had, and almost tackles him with a big ol' GLOMP. "You had us all worried, ya big goof!"Saint Marsh
Tobias was not as easily put at ease, despite his relief at finally seeing the brash boy alive and well. "Anna! He's still recoverin'! Give th' lad some space, aye?" He chides, though he could understand why she would be so excited to see Sorin okay.Sorin Fionn
He laughs as the little girl basically tackled him, and ruffles her hair a bit before she slides off of the bed. "Aw, ye shouldn't be worried a'tall, wee gremlin! Anna, was it? Pleasure ta see ya again." He finishes with a playful wink, committing her face and general mannerisms to memory.[Ind.| Picture-perfect Memory, Minor x1, -1EP (9/10)]

"Aye, an' I'm Tobias, as m'boy Aloy prob'ly mentioned b'fore. We jus' wanted ta make sure ye had some rest after everythin' before we visited."Storyteller
The rest of the kids that wanted and were able to see Sorin came in, bombarding him with questions. The biggest one that was asked most was the one he had no answer for, "What happened?"Sorin Fionn
He tries his best to remain positive, especially when that question came up so much. "Heh, truth is, kiddos, I cannae remember what happened.. but it sounds like Mr. Victory an' a few people took care of th' mess!"Saint Tobias Marsh
Ushering the kids to calm down a bit, he eventually is able to ask "So.. ye can't remember any o' us, lad?"Sorin Fionn
He shakes his head slowly, adding "I can't.. really remember anything. Just visuals, what places an' people look familiar, but not who or what they are. I'm.. I'm so-"Saint Tobias Marsh
He raises a hand to interrupt the apology. "Weren't yer fault, lad. Knowin' you, ye tried steppin' up fer someone an' it ended badly, like a couple a times before."Anna Marsh
She huffs and pouts. "How could you forget little ol' me and the rest of us?"Sorin Fionn
He chuckles, telling the little ones "It's all right, I just get ta know ye all over again! What were some o' th' things ye knew me for?" Turning back to Tobias, he says quietly, "Maybe someday I can hear all about it, over dinner?"Anna Marsh
Her eyes light up as she pulls an old pack of cards from her knapsack that she carried EVERYWHERE she went outside and handed the pack to Sorin. "You did LOTS of magic tricks! C'mon, show us one!" She bounces up and down excitedly, waiting expectantly with the rest of the kids chiming in for a display of cardistry.Sorin Fionn
Feeling the cards in his hand felt.. Comfortable. Natural. Almost as if he spent ages with them in his hands as he made a single cut with one hand, the nerves in his hand lighting up with a tingling feeling as the one cut became two, three, a cut with a flourished spin across the back of his hand and catching the cards underneath. The tingle felt comforting in a way, that despite losing a part of his memory he still had this. Smiling smugly, he lets the flow of his muscle memory take the tricks and flourishes to new heights, the cards dancing across his fingers before springing them into his other hand in a tall arc and fanning the pack afterwards.[Enh.| PKR, Minor x1, -1 EP (24/25)]

He watches quietly, noticing that the lad was making this display all with his eyes closed, as if lost in a pleasant thought. It must be a happy revelation to know he at least has this. Lord, I don't know what Your plan is for the lad, but to have him stay must mean his work for You isn't done yet, despite what You've taken from him. But if it is Your plan, You must have Your reasons.Storyteller
The young'ins are dazzled by the spectacle before them, many 'ooohing' as he sprung the cards into a fountain to be caught by his hand.Sorin Fionn
His eyes remain closed as he continues his flourishing spectacle, making the cards fan in a serpentine arrangement before flipping them back and forth, making waves in the S arrangement of cards before returning to a uniform stack. He opens his eyes to see the sight of excited people, and the morose feeling returns.[Enh.| PKR, Minor x1, -1EP (23/25)]
He didn't remember them beyond the brief interaction today. And yet they knew him for the card tricks that he performed. The card tricks that seemed so familiar, but couldn't remember the time he spent to master them. The comforting warmth that filled his hand all but vanished as he handed back the deck of cards. "I think yer missin' a card, there. I wonder where ya left it?" He secretly palmed the queen of hearts from the bottom of the deck, hiding it from view as he reached behind Anna's ear. "Aha! Found it!" He flicks the card into view as he pulls his hand back from her head, displaying it prominently for the kids to see.Anna Marsh
Every time he does that, she wonders if she really does hide the card behind her ear and immediately searches for other random treasures in her hair. Alas, there were no hidden treasures, just a bit of dirt and an acorn.Storyteller
The rest of the visit was spent primarily answering questions as best Sorin could, learning a bit of his visits to the orphanage with a lady named Layla, who seemed to be an accompanist to his more elaborate magic tricks, or playing music together for and with the kids. But as soon as they left, and they all bid him farewell and he to them, he was left with the empty fog that washed over his memories, and more pieces to the puzzle of who he was to people around him.
