Monday morning

In Stitches, The Heights

Hilma Poppins

It is the Day of The Grand Opening of Hilma's Shop, In Stitches. People are welcome to join in the celebration and enjoy an opening sale on her handmade dress and suits. Signs have been made to spread the word around New Victoria.

The day of the grand opening, a Friday, presumably to boost weekend sales, sees the librarian out of their natural habitat. But the posters around town had caught their eye and so here they were, mingling with people outside of the library. They chuckle to themself, and look around the store at the different styles, noting what's catching their eye right now.  

Hilma Poppins

Hilma comes from the back with fabrics in hand and sets them on a counter for another customer to sample. Noticing you looking around she steps up. In a not too loud but audible voice she says, "Anything catch your fancy here?"

"Oh! Hello. Is this your store then?" They smile. "I'm just looking but there's a few things...a couple of styles and a couple of patterns that look really neat. Welcome to the neighborhood, as well."  

Hilma Poppins

Hilma smiles back as giving a slight bow, "Well thank you for the welcoming, I only arrived to the city about a few days ago and most people here have been lovely." She digs in her bag and pulls out a business card with her number on it. While handing it to you Hilma asked, "If you don't mind me asking, with you being a local and everything... What is this Velvet Rose I have been seeing flyers about?"

"I've only been here shy of 10 years, you see. And most of my time has been with the library, where I work." They shrug. "From what I've heard, it's a club, but the general focus is those who are misfits because of their Evolved abilities. Enough people are coming into New Victoria that it's worth it - essentially, a new family of likeminded folks. Or rather, like-ability'd. Sorry I can't be more specific."  

Hilma Poppins

"Well thanks for the information, maybe one day we can go out and explore the city together, maybe visit the Velvet Rose and see what the hubbub is all about. But none the less, I'll be over there," points over to the desk with the stack of fabric that the other person is skimming through, "If anything catches your eye or if you want to get something made just come ask." Hilma starts walking back to the desk to finish helping the other customer.

"That would be nice," they say, even though they would prefer to stay in in the evenings. "Great, I'll let you know what catches my eye!"   With that, they look around, amazed at the range of what's on offer. There was a lot, and they thought a lot of people would like it as it was discovered. The come up with a frog patterned fabric, a duck patterned shirt, and somehow a mix of stripes with polkadots that just works somehow - they weren't going to ask. They take their things to the counter.

When Lavrentis arrives at the counter Hilma is in the middle of digging in her bag. "Where in the world is this thing? I know that I shoved it here somewhere," She says while digging even deeper, after about a few seconds she pulls out some chapstick. "There it is!" She proclaims finally looking up and noticing you, "Oh sorry about that, was having some difficulties." She starts typing into the register the prices of the clothes, wondering why as such a formal looking person is buying some of her more "experimental" pieces.   "I see that you found some things that are to your liking. I will say I normally don't make clothes like these that often so you got lucky with what you found, these are one of a kind pieces." After putting in the last number the sound of the register rings, "Well your total will be 26.50 all together. How would you like to pay?"  

Lavrentis

They chuckle. "My siblings will love these at the next family get together. Not necessarily the pattern but that I've finally explored a little bit outside the library in a provable way." They pull out a card, "is this okay to pay with?"  

Hilma Poppins

"Oh, that will work just fine," Hilma says while grabbing a card reader and plugging it into her phone. After you insert your card and sign the thing, the register prints out a receipt and Hilma bags all the clothes. "Well I hope you have a great rest of your day and maybe take me up on my offer later tonight. We could have fun and you can have more tales for your siblings," she says while giving a friendly smile.

"Yeah, maybe," They smile. "Shall I meet you here closer to the time? Do you want my number? Do we meet outside the club? I Haven't been to a club in....a long time." They chuckle nervously. "Anyways, thanks for the clothing! It'll look bomb when the outfit is put together." They give a wink, their words said they would somehow mush all the patterns together, but the wink said they knew what they were doing and the seamstress wouldn't have to worry too much about the sanity of her new friend.  

Hilma Poppins

"Yea you probably leave your phone number with me," She says while pulling out here phone to put your number in it, "You have mine already, so that shouldn't be an issue. It would probably be safest for us if we met here and went to the club together." After putting in your number and setting her phone away, she walks you out of the store. " I will also be anticipating what you think up with the new pieces. Whatever it is it will probably be beautiful."  

Lavrentis

"Thanks, I'll see you tonight. It's been a long time since I've been to the club - maybe it'll change from this. Maybe not, also, but you never know." They chuckle. "Clubs are open late, right? So meet here at about 8, then make our way? Maybe pick up some food along the way - it'll help absorb whatever we drink tonight."  

Hilma Poppins

"Well let hope it goes well. It will also be my first time going to one in this town. Eight works fine, I'll make sure I'm ready by then. Also when you come here knock at the second story door, it's right around that corner," Hilma points to the alleyway right beside the building.  

Lavrentis

"Great, thanks for letting me know. I'll see you then!" They smile, and head on their way, hoping the store does well.
