Another Brick in the Wall
Summer 2021, Week 5
Saturday night
The Port, Port Victoria
Yōkai
Clad in black fabric and grey metal, Yūki bided her time in a well secluded storage space atop one of the many warehouses that dotted the area. By now her associates should be getting ready down below. This specific place wasn't among their highest priorities in terms of their usual unlawful actions but would make a perfect place for an ambush, well outside normal working hours and no residential buildings in the immediate vicinity. The men would attract their target's attention and distract him, giving her the perfect opportunity for a surprise attack. If the pieces fell in their places the right way, it would all be over in seconds. Now all that remained was to wait and see if this Unbreakable would take the bait.Storyteller
“We’re ready Yōkai. We’re gonna do a loop. Something similar to what we did last night to catch his attention then hop in the car and race down this way.” Ryûji nodded as the three crooks hopped into the van. A simple plan that would be effective. They’d planned it out with the known locations and time of Unbreakable’s movement. The van was almost entirely designed as a giant sign saying “we’re doing illegal shit!” It took to the road making sure to speed just to catch his attention. “He should be with us soon.”Yōkai
"I know what the plan is, just shut up and focus on your part." Not only did she have to deal with the prospect of encountering some weirdo, but also these idiots. And even then there was no guarantee their target would show up soon or even within the several hours they might spend here if necessary. The whole thing was starting to seriously piss her off. If only something interesting were to happen...Storyteller
The only response she got was the revving of the car engine as the group pulled out onto the street. With an obvious plan set up they began to drive around. Recklessly driving, speeding hopping onto the sidewalk it wasn’t like anyone was around to hurt but the squealing of tires and loud roar of the engine paid off. A glint of someone speeding towards them in the rear view mirror.Unbreakable
Seeing this he quickly took off in a chase trying his best to hide his presence until the last moment his newfound speed was a godsend for chasing cars. He followed as they got closer to ending the circuit he flew ahead and swing acrobatically off a street light backflipping in the air until he slammed into the cars hood the suspension buckling under the sudden force and weight denting the hood. “Ryûji! Akito! Haru! Buddies! Shouldn’t you three be in prison?”[Flight normal x 1 -3EP 22/25]

One of the three Yakuza stooges would fumble with the radio to alert Yōkai but all that would come through is the sound of a window shattering as the car pulled into view.Unbreakable
His fist fast through the window him unharmed before he grabbed and slammed the passenger side goon into the seat knocking him unconscious. “You don’t get the talk for repeat offences!”[Enh Str. X1 minor x1 basic 24/25]

The car was swerving and slowing down to give her the best chance to teleport onto it.Yōkai
Within a few moments of hearing the start of the commotion she was wide awake and already perched on the edge of the roof, ready to make her move once the opportunity presented. Zooming in on their target - who seemed to match the description - she gripped the sword in her hand and focused, letting the world go still around her as she aimed for the perfect spot. As time resumed, she stood right behind the vigilante, already in the right stance and driving her sword forwards for the kill. The motion was somewhat distracting, yes, but her aim wouldn't fail at this range; Mamushi would pierce the man's heart in an instant. Even if he noticed something was off, it would be too late. After all, no ordinary person could react fast enough, no matter how strong...[Spacetime manipulation, normal, -3, 12/15]

His reaction time was uncanny. He felt something off not sure what. What sold that someone was behind was the reflection of one of the goons eyes. It wasn’t enough to tell him what was behind him and their cold expressions of calm didn’t match last night. He quickly took a sharp breath this entire body shooting forward into the cab through the broken window the blade scratching up his back and drawing blood. It wouldn’t be enough to cut his spine or kill him but it sure did some damage. Quickly turning around he slammed another goon’s head into the side of the car looking to his attacker. Mumbling under his breath. Great a fuckin’ ninja. “Hey so timmy’s ninjago party is actually in the wards not here! Sorry seems you got the wrong address.”[Flight minor -1 21/25]

She stumbled forward slightly as the man moved forward with unexpected speed, leaving her without an easy way to stop her momentum as quickly as anticipated. Seeing the blood but also the fact that he was still very much alive, she frowned but gave no response; only the soulless stare of the lenses of her mask. This could be bad... Improvise, quick! After managing to regain her balance, she quickly reversed the blade and swung it again from the side, aiming for his midsection again. Even if this didn't end up being as fast as she intended, there was no reason for it to become a prolonged struggle.Storyteller
The one goon who was left was reaching for a bat under his chair.Unbreakable
“I’ll deal with you later Ryûji! Hey! Ninja! You ever played grid Iron?” Thinking quickly he took another forward and launched off of his feet putting an arm up for the blade to slam and stick into as he sped forward and tackled the stranger into the ground with his flight. Ow Ow ow! He grabbed her wrist on her free hand and begun to twist it was clear if she didn’t escape she’d share a similar fate to the other guy.[Enh con x1 normal 20/25]

She easily felt the impact of her slash all the way up to her elbow, but he somehow managed to stop it. That must've gone all the way to the bone and he barely flinched? Who the hell is- The impact from his body and then the ground below her left her gasping for air, but the far too tight grip on her wrist brought her back to her senses enough to stop the world around her, even if the pain didn't go away. This is definitely bad... But I'm not that weak...! In the next instant she was midair around him, managing to find just enough time to angle herself for another lunge toward his back. She would've considered a battle cry if there were any air left in her lungs.Unbreakable
The moment she disappeared Unbreakable gritted his teeth and let out a deep low groan that sounded like a muffled scream however to someone who knew nothing about his healing power like she would. It could be seen as him going into a rage. The deep cut from the blade closed like it had never even sunk in as he turned around watching her fall and sliding out of the way letting her hit the ground and almost instantly swinging a lightning fast punch straight for her gut.[Self heal x1 Minor 19/25]

As soon as he got out of the way, she could tell the next few moments would be painful. Much as she tried, she wasn't fast enough to bring her blade in to block the punch - not that it was necessarily likely to do much after what she'd already seen - and only managed to very slightly stumble backwards to try and lessen the impact. It didn't help much, and the blow sent her flying a few feet further away where she was left trying to scramble to her feet - as soon as she'd catch her breath, anyway. The one saving grace, if you could call it that, was that she'd managed to move her sword high enough to leave a lengthy if rather shallow cut on his forearm as she blasted off from him.Storyteller
“Fuck this shit I’m out. It’s not worth it.” The last remaining goon quickly rushed out of the Van and ran away. He was clearly out of his league.Unbreakable
Don’t react you’re a brick wall. A brick wall. It didn’t hurt. A deep sigh emanated from the towering figures chest. “Drop the sword and put your hands up if you value all your bones in one piece.” Hiding his forearm cut behind him as he took a strong fighting pose so it could heal out of view. The same pain as before intensified in his arm. “Last chance. I don’t know who I pissed off. But If you don’t surrender you’ll be a message to them that I am truly Unbreakable and that I will never yield.”[Self healing x 1 basic 19/25]

It took a moment before she was capable of doing much more than coughing on all fours and hoping she wouldn't throw up. Even just breathing felt like fire in her lungs, like hell she was going to speak in this state. Then again, maybe it would buy her time to recover. This Unbreakable seemed dumb enough to pause the assault for a chance to gloat at her like this. Besides, she had an idea. "...All high and mighty, are we? As if you're so much better than me." She tossed the sword at his feet in order to feign compliance. She still had a few tricks up her sleeve, and he'd see his error soon.Unbreakable
“No. not at all miss.” Unbreakable kept his eyes locked on her not that she could tell given they were hidden beneath a pair of goggles designed to help hide his identity. He kicked the blade as far away from both of them as possible. He didn’t hesitate as a phone was out and 911 was being called and in a flash it was in his pocket “If you value being outside of prison. I would run to the next city and start a new life.”Yōkai
The blade slid some distance away from them, perhaps not far enough for her not to teleport to, but far enough not to be an immediate concern. At least most of it did, though a couple of small shards remained behind, very easily missed in the darkness. She let out a quiet hiss in disappointment; she wouldn't have much time but at least she was setting the board in her advantage. "Or what? You think they'll be able to catch me, let alone keep me under lock and key? Maybe you'll knock me out as well, and leave us here to be picked up. But they won't arrest us, we've done nothing wrong. As far as anyone but you is concerned, at least. And you'll be long gone by then, else you'd be the one getting arrested. Am I right?"[Power via Object, normal, -3, 12/15]

He ignored what she said. He knew that they’d find a way to make anything stick. Even if she got out scot free the people she worked for would know he isn’t going to roll over like an obedient dog. He had the advantage of being friends with Victory and having that number on his phone. “I’m gonna take that as a no. Don’t say I didn’t show kindness.” He began to float on the spot and slowly make his way over to her. “Who do you work for?” His tone was calm. Like he knew he was in control no matter what tricks she had up her sleeve.[Flight basic x1 19/25]

Damn, that's going to be a problem. So much for taking his knees out. Oh well, there's plenty of targets to choose from. A faint chuckle could be heard from behind the mask; he was seriously taking the moral high ground here. Delusional, if you were to ask her. And irritating as all hell. "Oh, so you ask the questions here?" She shook her head for a moment before vanishing just as before. A quick glance would reveal that she'd somewhat predictably gone for her weapon, but Unbreakable had other more immediate concerns. Namely the two shards of metal shooting into his back.[Spacetime manipulation, minor, -1, 11/15]
Unbreakable
“Typical. F-Fuck.” There was a deep grunt behind the voice. It’s fake facade breaking for a smallest quarter of a second. It wasn’t a deep generically heroic voice. While Yōkai could not identify it. It was certainly a voice she had heard before. But she hears hundreds of voices when she works doesn’t she? He grunts quickly pulling on of the shards out before taking off into the night sky. Blending into the dark sky on it’s own thanks to his darker clothes. He couldn’t reach the other so he’d just have to pray Tobias or Cuervo would be willing to pull it out. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the phone. “The port. Attempted assault and murder. Three male suspects one female.” With that he hung up. Watching Yōkai from the sky. In a minute of two sirens and cops would be rushing the place. “Last chance to leave before the police arrest you.”Yōkai
After the beating she'd just taken, his pained grunt was music to her ears. At least it hadn't been an entirely one-sided exchange, and maybe he wasn't as unbreakable as he would have her believe. Either way, she'd overstayed her welcome, especially when the cops could get there any minute now. "Hm. True, that's enough for now. But no matter what you may tell yourself, we're not so different, you and I." She then turned toward a nearby alley and vanished from sight. There was an air of unfinished business about this whole thing. After making it to a safe distance, she stopped for another breather; the effects of the battle were still very much there and only became more apparent as the adrenaline faded from her system. She didn't even want to think of the bruises she'd have tomorrow; luckily she didn't have any immediate beach plans. This is not the end... but before next time, I must get stronger.[Spacetime manipulation, normal, -3, 8/15]

“Wrong and just know you are a target now.L An instant response. That she almost certainly heard before he flew off to continue his work around the city.Storyteller
And with that their first encounter ended.A pair of possibly friends very quickly stab and beat each other to a bloody pulp at night just to be normal without knowing it the next day.
