you gain experience all the time, but you don't accumulate levels until you drink Chaos blood. Blood from the chaos god. When you drink it, all experience is turned into levels and new abilities. All extra experience that doesn't get turned to levels disappears so be careful. You can also only store 5 levels of exp in your evo actor at once. So be careful on storing it away and using chaos blood vials.
