Plattblad

Plattblad are multicellular Solätare that take the form of flat leaves. Their lower body is composed of a holdfast that simply acts as a fixture to the ocean floor. It does not absorb nutrients; those are acquired from the nearby waters. Whenever a Plattblad possesses an abundance of resources, it will begin developing additional leaves. Depending on how things unfold, the organism will either hold onto its child leaves or, if it becomes infected, the environment becomes uninhabitable, or resources grow scarce, they will be cut off from the holdfast. The separated leaves will thereafter be taken by the currents and hopefully find a new home where they may grow child leaves themselves. Another thing to note, released child leaves can be torn and broken to an extreme, and still be able to regrow themselves if resources are present, a boon of their relatively simple biology.
