Domestic Magic

Domestic (or Practical) Magic is perhaps the most common form of magic accessible to layfolk. It is not the magic of a calling forth a lightning bolt, summoning an elemental from beyond the planes, or healing the injured within a few seconds. It is the magic of cleaning, crafting, maintenance, tilling the earth, and tending a garden. It is subtle and imperceptible at times, but pervasive and felt.   It can be performed by anyone though those with an aptitude for spellcasting will generally have an easier time and access to more powerful magics. Many well known spellcasters got their start with domestic magic. Generally taught within the trades or within families, the rituals and crafting are taxing and time consuming when compared to magic thrown around by druids, sorcerers, or wizards. It is a slower type of magic where care and love can be as important as discipline and skill. As such, Domestic Magic is seldom categorized or studied to the extend of more powerful magics outside of local scholars, in the halls of crafters, or handed down through family tradition.   Such magics also seldom draw much attention as their magical auras are generally quite weak and can be easily mistaken for ambient aether in the area. It does not help that many objects imbued with domestic magic may see the magic wane over time as the magic within is depleted.   It should also be noted that domestic magic is not meant to replace the activities or hard work of regular labour, but to enhance it, make it easier, or more accessible.
