Gnome

Gnomes are widely considered as the smartest race of Everus but are oddly uncommon. Only ever appearing in bands of 2 or 3, it is a wonder that Gnomes really exist at all.   Realistically, gnomes just live underground having evolved from burrowing mammals. Their civilizations can be the size of entire cities but never be seen by human eyes. Gnomes are no more common than humans are in terms of population but they hold pride over their race's secrets and those who spread the locations of their settlements are seen as heretics to be outcast into ‘the above’.   Despite their dwellings, gnomes are often inventors and tinkerers. Creating contraptions to do for them what they cannot do on the planet’s surface.
