Perditional Contradoxy
Perditional Contradoxy is a hypothetical situation in which a mortal soul chosen for a life of purity in service to a good-aligned deity is consigned to the deepest levels of Hell. Should this occur, it would definitively prove the non-existence of predestination and show that gods can be wrong, and the very nature of divine magic itself will cause apocalyptic chaos. Many followers of evil-aligned faiths, particularly the Cult of Doomsday, regularly try to bring about the apocalypse via Perditional Contradoxy.
Historical Examples of Successful Perditional Contradoxy
The Sundering of Illiria
During the early reign of the first Blood King, a khan of the Odolomar invoked Perditional Contradoxy to summon forth an army of demons to fight the vampire. This was done by fusing divine and arcane magic to turn the then champion of Fortissimus into a living Hellmouth. The resulting explosion triggered a series of earthquakes that destroyed a majority of Odolomar territory and caused the Blood Realms of Kene Asha to physically move, eventually becoming Dark Isle, The Spear, and Seal Bay Island. Over the next few decades, recurring bursts of divine-arcane contradoxical energies caused similar quakes, sinking land and creating what is now Ter Eira, the Singing Islands, and the Drake Islands. It is also speculated that these events were partially responsible for the initial decline of Elvish supremacy. In retaliation for the blasphemy, Fortissimus himself cursed the remaining Odolomar lands, turning them forever into the badlands known today as The Boneyard. The Extinction of the Rekai
During the Sylvan War, Skaldor himself utilized a cursed artifact given to him by pain god Attinae to invoke Perditional Contradoxy. By binding the artifact to a champion of good-aligned faith, in this case an Elvish oracle in service to The Guardian, the artifact caused such corruption and pain as to break a soul via unholy divine energies. The artifact, designed to control contradoxical blowback, created an explosion that destroyed all matter for hundreds of miles, killing all living Rekai and forever turning portions of Ictatha into an uninhabitable wasteland that forever crawls with the living dead.
