Previously, on Jerlooms, Part One: Kuasta and The Darkwood
The last time I wrote one of these out was all the way back at the city of Puerta Majesta in Kuasta, detailing the party's destructive date with a deity of darkness. That was in early December of 2022. I am going to do my absolute damndest to piece together all that's happened since.
Flight of the Kingfisher and the Seekers in Shadow
After leaving Puerta Majesta at the behest of essentially everyone living in that city, the party got passage to Coppershore with Captain Fawkes of the trading vessel Kingfisher. Since he was one of Attinae's victims he was more than happy to get the hell out of there. They arrived in Coppershore with limited issues, and their compass was being weird. They knew for a fact that a group of rival artifact hunters, the Seekers in Shadow, were here to steal something from somebody. First though, healing. They went to the Temple of Dracorex and got some insight into that particular faith, which would kick in nearly a year later. Then work. It took some asking around, but Rafi ended up befriending and probably dating the Don and Doña Ziani, who had a massive familial tomb on the estate. Investigating some reports of murders, they got more information from some ghouls in the city's graveyard who were evidently part of some sort of Undead Reform and Rights Movement and super worried about a necromancer that's been running around. The Seekers would be then the witch Veil, the mercenary Titan Guarde, the werewolf Ghost, and the necromancer Naxith the Abominable. Without alerting the Zianis to what was going on, the party hunted down or lured out each member of the Seekers one by one. They tamed the wolf (sort of), nailed Guarde into a barrel, absolutely destroyed Veil, and fought Naxith on the sight of the tomb. We beat Naxith, took his shit, and cured Cricket of the soul puking. I have no idea which artifact was recovered, but it was jammed right into that donkey. Rafi had creeped out the swingers somehow and we needed to get out of the city, so it was time for a break. A plee to the wizard and everyone got teleported from Kuasta to a hidden retreat deep in the Greenlands. We took time off. Chuffy got the staff of egg hatching, Rafi befriended pirates, Kentaro did some guard work, Nodi learned a thing or two about magic. Back to work, and the party was teleported back to their property in Jeryvil.
Right Back Where We Started
In the name of managing their estate, the party left behind their companions. The witch Cricket, the Cecalia Melia, and the werewolf Ghost were left behind to start growing turnips. We to this day have not stuck a name to this business. Then, back to Dragonscale now that some time had passed. It was high time to claim that artifact that had been stuck with the Count. Along the way at some point Rafi got absolutely fucked up. Luckily, they made it to Dragonscale and got him fixed at the Temple of Lyrica, under the watchful eye of old Mother Sylxipha who was Rafi's mentor in religion before the adventure. He also introduced the party to his dads. The Temple wanted the team to steal a sacred harp from the Count's storeroom as payment, which worked out because they needed his artifact anyway (I do remember that one. the Fighter's Everyblade). There's just one problem, which is getting into the castle of Count Eric to begin with. Rafi pulled through for us again, charming the Count's daughter Lady Melissa and getting an invitation to the Count's soiree that weekend. Problem: Lady Jael, who controls one of the other artifact hunting groups and who the party had screwed over so hard they had to leave Dragonscale the first time, would be there. No way but foreward. Chuffy scouted out the place and pre-emptively put some Goblin contingincies in place. They attended the little party, impressed the Count enough to get a private invitation to go hunting with him. See, some of the guests had gone insane and started attacking others and the party put a stop to it. Anyway, they stole the harp and quietly fought Lady Jael's group, the Mockingbirds, for the sword. They almost got caught, but knocked out the Dwarf warrior Yargealda and shoved her into a friendly mimic, who covered for them. (Side note, I forgot about this but her ogre boyfriend Kithgor is going to fucking murder you if he ever finds out). No sign of Jael's mysterious swordsman either. Rewind a bit, the disturbance at the party was caused by mysterious Elvish visitors, who the gang then confronted the next day. Guess what. They are also Artifact hunters and immediately fought the party to claim their upgraded compass. They were allowed to live after an ass-kicking in exchange for a promise not to fight each other again. These Elves (Known only as Burn, Beyond, Rend, and Shadow) are agents of Thunderhead Division. The party did the hunt with Count Eric, killed the MOAB (Mother of All Bulettes), and set out to the next target.
The next artifact was in the big lake outside Fort Alento. Captain Gnorth landed the gang there presumably with incident but none I can remember. The artifact, the Mirror of Possibilities, was certainly underwater as the compass showed the party a merperson using it. As it turned out, the fort's Legion (The 2nd Elf Legion under Captain Ehael) was gearing up to kick the shit out of the merpeople over some dispute or another. By this point, the reputation of the party had begun to precede them, and Ehael reluctantly agreed to allow the party to try diplomacy first. She hates Rafi for the record. She funded the magic needed to get the party under the water, where they met with Princess Velynstyei of the River Tritons, thus fulfilling the Oracle's prophecy from like early 2022. She was a chill cleric of some weird Guardian offshoot and agreed to trade the party the mirror in exchange for their aid slaying a giant river monster that had been tormenting the merpeople.
After that chaos and an aquatic orgy, the party made their way north by road up to the next artifact, the Questing Blade, stuck in a stone outside the Lancaster town of Albion. Along the way, they stopped at one of Lyrica's Wayshrines and were warned by the minor deity Song of Change that the gods were becoming irrational. See, the collection of all these artifacts was freeing up all those radicals, which was attracting threats from The Unreal, but the gods are insane and even though they know what's going on each is convinced that the others are plotting against them. Nothing to do but continue for Albion. They arrived in time for an annual festival honoring the Stag King, a minor deity of the Fey. They signed up to participate in a ritual hunt, but first a diversion. They fought the protector of the Questing Blade, Sera Rowan, Knight of the Horns. for the right to claim it. They proved worthy as fuck, and Rafi claimed the Blade as his own. Dubbed Questy, the Blade held all knowledge in the world as long as it could be phrased in the form of a quest. They then hunted for the Stag King and impressed yet another god. Plus, they befriended the heirs to House Davidon and their knights, securing an inviation to the castle-city The Hive and a promise of safe passage.
At The Hive, they reveled in the absolutely excellent hospitality of the Davidons. While exploring the city though, they fell for a trap. A new player had entered the artifact hunting game, and without a magic compass, plotted to steal the party's. A crack bounty hunting team had taken the place of a famous performer to get the party alone, and they attacked the unsuspecting players- who promptly kicked ass. (Bounty hunters from Heaven, Hell, another universe entirely, the Toon Realm, and also a kind of hot cyclops lady). Anyway, I left out that awhile back Rafi had learned that the champion of Lyrica and the champion of The Dreaded One had gone missing when all this weird god stuff started, so the team decided to head to the Alliance of Dwarven Clans to check that out. To get there without an airship port nearby, they decided to call in the favor of an old friend.
See, during the time off Rafi had met some pirates, specifically Captain Zhao the Tall of the pirate ship Irreverant Priest. Captain Zhao was on the Council of Scoundrels, and after learning of Rafi's quest decided to take the matter up with the pirate "government". They were escorted down to Port of Kings the whole way by knights in service of House Davidon, and successfully made it to the port city. Captain Zhao was in the city (in disguise) and was happy to help them out. They sailed way out into the middle of the River Kingdoms, near the underwater cove the pirates call a safe haven. Without needing to go down there, they transferred ships to the pirate flagship Beautiful Storm, captained by the Beggar Queen Grace Skalxien (yes, THAT Skalxien). She revealed that the pirates had some kind of favor owed to the wizard the party works for and also don't want ANYBODY to have the Artifacts of Skaldor, so they'll assist the party. In fact, they've been targeting artifact hunters and delaying them across the Kingdoms. With the protection of the pirates, our heroes made their way across the River Kingdoms and finally made it to Aaldengate, the border port between the Empire and Aaldenbur.
Interlude and a Freebie
Party headed north to the Imperial city of The Aviary, a massive airship port. The compass led them to the Plainsight Cloak, which was held by a legendary Orc thief. Unfortunately for that guy, the compass giving off free radicals was more than good enough to bypass the artifact's non-detection charm, which is why when we threatened that guy and took the cloak we gave the Cloak away. The next closest artifact from here would be in Fort Alento, River Kingdoms- more than 1800 miles away! God, if only there were some kind of swift flying machine. Anyway, we booked passage with Captain Gnorth the Lucky of the skyship . Also, in The Aviary, party saw their old rivals the Ruby Lantern, and avoided the fuck out of each other.

Part Three: The Alliance and Downbelow
Hey, luckily there's an artifact in the same direction we need to go. Unluckily Stitch totally forgot what the hell it was by now. Anyway, at the port the party hired the crew of a skywhale from the Singing Islands (his name is Pipaluk). Pipaluk's cool crew dropped them off near The Pit, a city built around a dead dragon where Dwarves send their undesirables. The party headed down, found a whole society of Duergar descended from ancient Dwarf exiles, and helped their clan chief Tishris Gravehammer by beating the ever loving fuck out of Ulfhild, Spawn of Surtr, who is a hot lady fire giant cursed to be stuck here forever. She lives in Nodi's head now because he put her burning heart where one of his eyes used to be, and she showed him where some of the other "old ones" might be. Another voice in his head called "One Eye" is really mad about this for some reason. Gang promises to return later and the Duergar are super happy that they don't have to feed themselves to a nine foot tall burning hot dommy mommy anymore. Anyway.
From The Pit to the road, they stopped at Rivaltn and helped deal with a dinosaur infestation (making friends with the Druid-Dwarf Kathibera) and got absolutely no thanks in part because Chuffy released a 1997 sized Anaconda into their water supply on accident. They then proceed to the hollow mountain Aaldenbur, where they learn that because of all the crazy world shit they've caused the Dwarves are calling a clanmoot. They get some sick lore and head off to the place called The Valley of No Hope where the whole thing with the missing godly champions are. They had to beat up a giant construct and rescue the ghost of an ancient Dwarf necromancer who's been animating the thing.
At the Valley, they were joined by Syrinx, the Watcher Between Worlds. Who was there for NO REASON. Side note, lots of gods and champions about to show up, so here's just a link to the whole pantheon. More godly champions showed up, because the party convened with Tilanos at some point before this and he promised to send help and I could not remember where to put it. So it was The Promethean, The Bound Blade, and the Watcher Between Worlds who came to help and The Solaire, the Lord of Battle, and the Knight of the Red Wastes who came to kill everybody. The Watcher stepped out because Nex is neutral and promised to watch over Emilio while the party was going to "the place no god can see", and because she's the champion of the murder god the Knight of the Red Wastes (Elva) attacked the other two on team Kill My Players' Characters. Also, there's a thing with her and Rafi I guess.
Into the Downbelow, which is legally distinct from The Underdark. They happened upon another artifact kind of just at random, the Gemstone of Know Anything But It Kills You I forgot the real name of. They did not use it well at all. There were signs of strange people and things all over the place. Eventually, the party happened on a group of Drow who had enslaved an angel and the party had to fight her but they set her free and Rafi got a cosmic phone number. (NOTE: I promise Rafi isn't the main character or anything, I just talk to Owen a lot so there's more memory there and also everything Chuffy and Nodi do are WEIRD and Jerry doesn't talk a lot (:sob emoji sob emoji sob emoji:) . Turns out the Drow were hunting Numericans. Americans. What the fuck.
Meet up with the American president, learn that there are several warring factions down here. The champions of Lyrica and TDO did pass through here and went to try and make peace between the Americans and the Romans. So the party finds the Romans. They kill a hippo thing. Also there's a female dragon in the Downbelow which is WILD. And a mummy from before time began or something. Party finds the Romans. Their emperor is keeping the Queen of Love hostage and the Destroyer fighting in the arena. Both of those are weird people super into the situation. Party goes back to the Americans. Then escorts the President and his super cool entourage to the Roman camp to work out a final peace, they take a train and the Drow attack and the party won in like two rounds because I gave the enemy vehicle legs and hit points and it's fine I regret nothing. Anyway peace is made and the gang celebrate the new alliance and the two groups promise to help out with the god thing if it's relevant to them at any point. There's a party and an orgy. That makes a minimum of two this campaign.
Party leaves the Underdark, gets their donkey back, and make it back to Aaldenbur just in time for the Moot. A new King is elected (and I don't remember which one, I am a bad GM I know), and Tilanos is like "Hey Dwarves, these people are my homies and I made them magic sandwiches" and the Dwarves are impressed so the party makes them promise to let the Duergar out of the shame pit. They board the skyship Lady Zisyda and make haste for the University, because the compass was upgraded again so that it now only shows the location of the most artifacts in one spot.
University at Shimmering Rock
If anyone's going to know about the artifacts, it's these fucking nerds. Again, the party is famous now, at least in terms of local leadership being absolutely terrified of whatever hell they will bring with them. Luckily, the University is open to everybody, so they get some free rooms and sign up to audit some classes while they hunt for the artifacts. They meet Chadiel, the local high priest of Lyrica, who is super jealous of Rafi's effortless toned abs. Lyrica has started to assemble an alliance of gods and has siezed control of the Pantheon, making her own moon ascendant .
Party hits the gossip circle, get mean girl'd by a reject cadet house Davidon lady, and befriend several professors. Especially Lawton Maerk, professor of Universal Probabilities, who can help them out if the party would only let him study their free radical emissions. He does. They rescue an artifact from him and one from the cow dimension thanks to the Cursed Archaeology department. Cursed Archaeology is run by a Djinni, who grants the party but one wish, which they use to free Emilio from the Curse of Ass. Emilio, as it turns out, is a little goth twink who is really fucking mad about being un-donkey'd and spents the rest of the University arc working out his frustrations on Chadiel.
Ahem.
Anyway.
The greatest trove of artifacts is actually held by a sphinx who is the University's library curator, and she is totally down to help them out. Her name is Gadamba, and apparently was one of the fifteen beings who put the World Enchantment down to begin with, and also is going to kill the great wizard because he wiped her mind along with everyone else's after she constructed a whole ass University murder dungeon specifically for protecting some of the artifacts. Specifically, the Spear of Adaptation, Mercenary Resolve, Ring of the Dragon's Prayer, The Hero's Blade, The Blood Contract. They trade out Qwesty for the Hero's Blade and Nodi's Eye of Know Anything for the Spear of Adaptation, which has a dragon soul in it and now there's another godlike entity living in his skull. At some point, they also met up with Lyrica herself and Freja, a god associated with One Eye and Surtr, who gave Nodi a Nordic Runic Tunic. I mean it's a magic 8 ball that works 50% of the time. They also summoned Attinae again for reasons I can't remember. I think it's because she's on Team Lyrica now along with Tilanos, The Dreaded One, Nex, and Vadaszat. The trove was collected, so while there might still be artifacts at the University, the compass is pointing Eastward. It's time to raid a Confederate military base, oh boy.
For some background, one of the World Events caused the Confedreracy to devolve into two different flavors of civil war.
Part Four: The University
Arrival at the
Dragon Quest
The party left the University via their pirate connections, taking flight aboard the smuggler ship Albatross, which is a skyship captained by Jeanie "Shark Bait" Jonel, who is proof I use too many random name generators.
Along the way, there was a storm and Dracorex popped out and challenged the party. They agreed, almost died to a Thunderbird but won, and Dracorex promised to get a dragon to help them. As it happened, they were near Crimstone Port, home of the great bronze dragon Rosarius the Strong-Willed. They met up with the dragon, entertained him, and got his artifact with ease, the Mask of the Troubadour! Also, he let Rafi borrow the epic Lyre of Gilean the Golden, who founded the Silver Strings. Anyway, this was so easy because Chuffy kept the Ring of Dragon's Prayer, which makes dragons like you a whole lot in a platonic way. Also, Kentaro kept Mercenary Resolve, which is paint that makes you literally incapable of feeling fear.
They left the dragon with the sky pirates again, and made one more stop before hitting up the Confederacy. The Vault of Chaos, where a powerful artifact called the Entrobee is stored. We left off with the party fighting a horde of tyranosaurs inside of the Vault.
