Orphaned at a young age, the man who would go on to become Alternis was found in the northern reaches of the Western Kingdom, alone and amnesiac, by the paladin order. Raised along with the other war orphans and acolytes, they noticed his natural affinity for their art and began training him in earnest. He rose through their ranks, and like all of their order joined the western army. He excelled in the army and rose through the ranks, commanding his own unit early on. Alas, his meteoric rise like so many others was not to last. His arrogance outpaced his ability, and after crushing defeats he was demoted. Along with a small group of soldiers, was on his way out of the military life when Fate decided against that. What was to be their last night together instead brought the merry band closer together and deeper into millennia old intrigue and machinations, triumphs and bitter, bitter loses.
Now back in the army and the General of the northern forces, Alternis is dedicated to keeping the order in the West and trying to avoid the mistakes of the past. The path he walks is a hard one for him to follow at times, but he does it for the greater good, and to end the greater evils of the realm. Rather or not the realm knows what evil that he fights is of no concern to him. His path is set, and those who cross it will face his vengeance
