C2 Session 22
General Summary
As Henry moves through the city, people are looking at him with admiration
He notices a flyer with Koin’s face, asking them to join the rebellion
The flyers list various propaganda about a new Thera and aezraghn supremacy
Henry feels drawn to the old yuan ti pit, and cannot fathom the destruction
He feels like he remembers more not less since reia, so it bothers him that he cannot remember what happened there
He notices that there are three large statues being constructed
One of a tabaxi, one of a dragolian, and of a man with a rapier and a shortsword
On the beach, Koin greets the tabaxi and the grung
One tabaxi introduces herself as Dara, and praises Koin, talking about her dreams and how grateful she is to be working with him
The grung translator, Steve, introduces himself
Koin makes whitefang the Bosun, essentially an advisor
Koin asks Whitefang about some islands he sailed past, he says there were a few, but he was drunk most of the time
Henry asks if Whitefang met his father in Dragol, and he realizes that Henry is his son
Says that Reimund is a terrifying man that could eat his gold and still be rich and looks at people like he knows he’s better than them
Whitefang suddenly remembers an outpost island called Zamboza, where he was supposed to stop after attacking Fio, but he doesn’t remember where it is
They set out to the northwest and begin sailing
Nothing happens on the first day, but they are all content and hopeful
Everyone’s going a bit crazy because they’re hungry and no other officer or cook positions have been assigned
They start settling things, and Henry notices a flock of birds, that begin closing in
Eight winged women land on the masts of their ships, they are harpies
One of them lands and is much more elegant than the others, she begins to sing
Henry throws a chromatic orb at the one singing
Xodon tries to reason with one of them
Koin orders the crew to man the ballistas
Adrezill chucks a firebolt at a Harpy
Another harpy begins singing, Henry saves him and Koin, but Xodon and Adrezill are charmed
A harpy attacks Henry, but misses
More harpies begin singing, charming Koin
More harpies attack Henry, slightly damaging him
The Harpy matriarch paralyzes Henry and Xodon
Her form takes shape of what they each desire the most
Henry holds Xdri’s skull in his hand, paralyzed with happiness
Koin shakes of the charm
Adrezill remains charmed, and begins walking to the edge of the ship and falls off into the water chasing after the Harpy
Koin is charmed again
Henry is almost knocked unconscious
Whitefang finally shows up to much surprise
The matriarch walks up to Henry and begins singing
He is charmed by her and she flies up and over the water, Henry following
He walks off the ship and falls 40 feet into the ocean and becoming uncharmed
Xodon does the same, falling into the water and becoming uncharmed
Koin and Whitefang are the only ones left on the ship, and Koin cuts the anchor rope, and the ship is stationary
The harpies are flying and entrancing more crew members off of the ship
The ship begins slowing as the anchor drops, but not before it hits Henry in the back of the head and knocks him out
Whitefang is charmed and walks off the ship, sinking because he has an anchor hand and can’t swim
Koin shoots a poison dart at a harpy, but fails to knock it out
The matriarch charms Koin, who walks off the boat but stands on the water, which highly confuses her
The harpies continue drowning more crew members
Xodon and Adrezill continue to be charmed
Xodon becomes uncharmed and looks around to see a lot of bodies floating in the water
Koin also becomes uncharmed
Adrezill also becomes uncharmed
The matriarch sees Koin running to his ship and attacks him
Xodon is 60 feet underwater, begins swimming to grab a few people before surfacing and does so easily
Koin goes in for a side slash on the matriarch, cutting one of her wings, swinging around and in one slash cuts her head off
Adrezill sees Henry and traps his lifeless body in a watery sphere and begins moving the sphere up to the surface
Xodon reaches the ship and sees the harpies who have landed and begun pillaging the ship
Koin reaches the ship and instantly decapitates two harpies
Adrezill swims down and brings Whitefang up to the surface
The harpies begin running away, Koin catches on and kills it, and Whitefang catches one and kills it
Xodon catches one and hits it, cursing it so it will die in a few seconds
He then shoots an arrow at another, killing it
Whitefang harpoons another one and kills it
There is only one left, about 120 feet away, sniping it straight out of the sky and killing it
The watery sphere crashes onto the deck and spews out Henry’s pale body
Koin looks at Henry and someone goes to retrieve the priestess
He puts his hand on his chest and can immediately tell he’s dead
Adrezill retrieves the priestess, who grabs her diamond and begins casting a spell to try and revive him
She focuses in the still wind, and the diamond begins glowing a platinum light
It lights on fire, and spreads on Henry’s body, and she begins to pray
The flames continue burning, and eventually spitter and die out, only leaving a few embers
She grabs Henry’s hand and prays
She reaches in her bag and takes out a platinum beaded necklace and placing it on his chest
With tears in her eyes, she looks at Koin and says that she could not do it, and he is dead
Koin walks up to Henry’s body, reciting an old saying: may your feet walk on warm sands
Xodon puts his head down, and begins sulking to the bottom deck
It is eerily quiet, and Koin looks around to see that everyone is alive except for Henry
Dara the priestess grabs some linen and wraps it around his body
Before Xodon finishes retreating to the bottom deck, he says that they will take his body to Dragol and show his father what has happened to him
Whitefang says that it was too soon for someone like Henry, and he has seen much death in his life, and that he may be gone but not forgotten
They mourn his death with drinks and food, trying to keep brave faces, but their morale has taken a large hit
They raise the anchor and continue to sail, and can’t shake the feeling that something is missing, the quips, the smartness, and the incredible magic he demonstrated
Dara is upset that she could not save him, and that they do not shed tears for him
Koin tries to console her, but she cries and runs to her quarters
Whitefang says a few words, and tells Xodon that they should not take the situation with too much aggression, lest they end up like Henry, because his father is a very powerful mage
They stare sadly at his possession laying on the nearby table
They leave Henry’s body with the talking doll and his trusty dagger
They walk up to the main deck to see hundreds of lanterns floating, as Whitefang told the crew to give him a proper sendoff
They gaze at the lit up sky before walking back down, leaving Koin and Xodon feeling like a part of them is missing
They go to sleep and wake up in the morning and begin by assigning roles
Koin opens up the letter from the black suns that he got in the city
He is immediately hit with a cloud of poison, but can read the letter now
It says that they are still here and watching, and that they have made themselves an enemy of the great serpent god, and they will be executed by their hand
The letter is signed with the seal of the black suns, and Koin folds it up
Xodon talks to Koin, and says that although Koin is putting on a strong face now, he either needs to keep that strong face forever or show more feeling now so it doesn’t affect him later on
Koin hugs Xodon, and consoles him, trying to empathize with him
Xodon says that he will make sure Xdri dies and that Henry’s goal will be accomplished
He is still upset that he is not strong enough to take on anybody in the Dragolian council, or even Whitefang
Xodon gets worked up, and says that he does not even want Dragol to exist as a continent anymore
He says one last thing to Koin, that he doesn’t care how much power he needs to get his hands on, he will destroy Dragol
Xodon exits the captain's quarters, and Koin lays back in his chair, contemplating the conversation
