C2 Session 20

All of them fall on the floor except for Koin

The atmosphere feels very aquatic

The stone they landed on has a spiral representative of the golden ratio on it

There is something with a piece missing

There is an empty side room with a statue of an angel

It begins to animate and walks off of the pedestal

She looks at them and the stone shifts into a green skin and shimmering golden eyes

There are many murals and tapestries engraved along her body, and she carries a long damascus sword

She looks down at them and notes that they have completed the past trials and are here for their next

She holds out her hands and requests that they give her the tokens of earth

They say they don't have them and a frog sent them there

She relaxes her face and her tone and cadence changes

She walks them through the steps to complete the trial because she recognizes that the frog king Garry sent them there to retrieve his lot item

She walks over to a spot, and taps it and rays of light shoot out to form a doorway

On the ground in front of it is a phrase: as above, so below

They all walk in and notice that they don’t enter at the same spot as the others

They are at three points equal distance away at the edges of a circular room

There is a mist on the ground, and in the middle of the room is a large pedestal with a golden orb on it

The mostly rock chamber extends upwards almost infinitely to reveal a small white light at the top, barely visible

Xodon and Koin look around to find multiple 5 foot diameter pools of water

They all begin walking towards the middle, and multiple geysers spring up

They barely dodge them, and they go silent as a rain falls down on them

Xodon attempts to sprint through, and gets shot ten feet up, lands on the ground, and more go off, shooting him 300 feet in the air and falling

He hits the ground and slowly gets up before quickly rolling over multiple times back to his starting point, barely avoiding multiple geysers

Koin tries the same, dodging passt geysers, maneuvering around them

He notices his ankle gets caught in one, and he starts spinning rapidly before landing

This happens multiple more times, then he eventually slides across the water and arrives at the orb

He touches the orb and instantly, every geyser in the room starts spouting, and they don’t turn off

Hot rain is coming down and the room begins to fill with water

Koin tries to adjust his hand and pick up the orb, but his hand isn’t coming off

The boiling water starts to burn them

Xodon looks under the water and notices the geysers are rising with the water, and the pools are open

He swims and makes it through, seeing another golden orb, which he touches

They are all teleported back to the room they entered from, and Xodon has the orb

It dissipates and appears in one of the three slots on the wall

The angel sighs and says they are definitely gonna die, then she opens the next portal, which has an arch that says: strong are those who can weather the storm

Xodon begs for some healing, but she declines, and they walk in

There are a bunch of crates and the sky is blue  and it is quite peaceful

Suddenly a massive storm begins to form

Xodon plants himself in the ground and shoots his endless water decanter at the sky to keep himself planted

Henry starts ritual casting a spell, but is swept by a gust of wind and it is ruined

Koin grapples to something

Xodon sees a cloud above charge with lightning and strike him, knocking him out

Henry begins ritual casting again, and the winds pick up but him and Koin are unaffected

Lightning strikes the sand next to Henry, and he sees crystal glass form from the heat of the strike

Koin is struggling to hold himself, and Henry is struggling to finish his spell

Koin chains manacles to himself and then to the rope of his grappling hook, but it doesn’t have much effect

He grabs a nearby tree and plants himself

Henry gets kicked back and has to start again

Koin notices his rope coming undone a little too late, and gets lifted 15 feet in the air, and almost gets struck by a lightning bolt

Xodon wakes up, just in time to block a lightning bolt

Wind pushes them around but Xodon and Henry are unaffected

Koin gets struck

Henry is about halfway through, and he just about finishes it

The lightning strikes his ritual, and the dome begins to form

As it almost closes, another bolt comes down, and he barely closes the dome, sending the bolt back to the cloud, dispersing it

They all are teleported back and the second orb is in the slot above the arch

The lady opens the last portal, the arch saying: passion is a fire that cannot be silenced

They enter a room made completely of polished ice

Through the north wall is the orb, encased in the ice

They look around for any traps, but don’t find anything

Koin digs away at the ice, but it just reforms everytime he breaks it

He tries to ignite his sword, but it doesn’t work

Henry thinks of Xdri and channels passionate thoughts about gaining power and defeating Xdri, but nothing happens

Xodon sneaks up on Henry and tries to feed him truth serum, but he resists

Henry stabs Xodon, and Koin walks up and manacles them both, before going back to punching the wall to no avail

Xodon ends up charming Henry, and begins trying to persuade him to talk about his past

As Henry talks, the ice around the orb begins to melt 

Xodon does the same to Koin, and he begins talking about his passions

Xodon directs them to speak one at a time, Henry goes first and talks about how he loves magic and power, then speaks on the battle of Thera, but he can’t doesn’t remember it so he stumbles over his words a bit before moving on

Koin speaks on being jumped by bandits and Sun taking him in in the form of a poem

Xodon speaks on how Poco was injured and Poco teaching him to live and fight and how he lives for others to protect them, which he speaks in haiku form

The orb rolls onto the ground from the hole, and they pick it up and are teleported

The angel says they have the two divine trials left

The golden ratio rock lights up and a portal opens, revealing a lake of very clear water

Koin dives in, but his ring of water walking stops him

He takes it off and descends into the water

They swim around and see their surrounding are ever changing, the walls spinning

There are dark black chains in a chamber nearby, and shackled to them 50 feet up is a figure trying to escape

Koin and Xodon see that the figure chained up is a man with white hair and blue skin

The man says that he has been trapped in chains for the past three days, and some weird very fast creature chained him up

a watery force carrying black chains tries to wrap up Xodon, but he evades

A man made of water emerges with chains wrapped around him

Two more watery beings with chains come for Koin and Henry, Koin gets caught and Henry dodges

Koin asks the name of the chained up main, and he says his name is Adrezill

More chains come off of the man, Henry and Xodon are caught by one

The other end of the chains shoot outside the whirlpool walls and fasten themselves onto something

Koin punches the chain a couple times and snaps the chain, then analyzes the elementals, noticing that they don’t have vital points, you can just attack them anywhere

Xodon swims up to one and slashes them, and it screeches

One of them tries to send another chain towards Henry, but Xodon hits it and redirects the chain

Another one sends a chain at Xodon but he evades

The third one shoots a chain at Koin but misses, so it goes for Adrezill, and easily hits him

Henry swims towards Adrezill and tries to fire bolt one of the chains, but the spell oddly fizzles

Adrezill tries to brute force his way out of the chains and he breaks two of them

Koin punches and slashes an elemental

Xodon attacks one twice and it dies

One of the elementals tries to chain him up but fails

The other one starts attacking Koin, wrapping its body around him and stopping him from breathing

The last one tries to chain up Henry, and succeeds, restraining Henry right next to Adrezill

Koin tries to escape, but can’t

Xodon swims to the elemental grappling Koin and slashes it, but doesn’t kill it

It wraps around Xodon, and begins drowning him

The last elemental wraps another chain around Henry

Henry notices Adrezill brute forcing the chains, and begins spinning to add tension to it, snapping the one that just got put on him

Adrezill breaks another chain off of himself

Koin breaks free from the elemental’s grasp

Xodon does the same

The elemental rushes after them

The ritual circle under Adrezill and Henry pulses, and another elemental appears where the other died previously

One tries to run away, but gets hit by both Koin and Xodon

Another puts a chain on Xodon

Another puts a chain back on Henry

Adrezill and Henry fail to break out of their chains

Koin starts wrapping a chain around all of the posts surrounding the ritual circle

The whirlwind begins to fade as the ritual circle is broken and the elementals disappear

They stand still in the water, looking at their murky surroundings

The sigil activates again, but much more powerful

Something large begins moving far away in the murky depths

A large circular mass and face with rows of teeth and three eyes emerges

There are multiple tentacles attached to it, and it begins approaching them

They hear a voice in their heads: you… have come. Feed me knowledge, help me understand the world above so I can one day take back my power

The group declines, and it says that their sacrifice will be remembered

Adrezill throws a ray of frost at it, and it pierces one of its tails, but the creature(aboleth) doesn’t even take notice of the blood

Henry drinks a potion and radiates energy, then throws a powerful tail swipe at Koin but misses

Xodon shifts into his beastial form

Adrezill hits him with a lightning bolt, and Koin hits his tail multiple times

He says he can give henry power if Henry gives him freedom, and Henry asks how he can do that

They notice that a viscous material is coming off of its body everytime they hit it

Xodon slashes it with his swords, and Koin suddenly begins feeling ill shortly before Xodon does as well

Adrezill takes out his greatsword and attacks the aboleth

Koin slashes it, bloodying it

Henry throws one more chromatic orb at it before being charmed by it

The aboleth tells him how he can obtain a lot of power by killing the others and protecting him

Xodon tries to slash it, but is stopped by a shield spell

Koin tries to hit it, slashing it once and missing a punch

Henry can only think of power, and feels a surge of it as he stares down his friends who are now enemies

He begins casting a spell and as he is about to let it off, it fizzles as Adrezill counterspells

The aboleth counterspells the counterspell, and Xodon disappears

Adrezill strikes the aboleth with a lightning bolt and it dies

Henry is uncharmed, and he brings Xodon back

They swim back up and the angel lady gives them 5 small sapphire gems and one large sapphire shard to give to the king

They are also awarded some silver, amulet of planes, tome of thought

They are brought back into the pool area, and Daemon is there excited to see them

He says to hand the shard to him and he will bring them back where the frog crew is already waiting
