C1 Session 17
General Summary
The fire from the skull hits [[Murfy]]'s shield and spreads off onto some of the books. There is a low moan wailing from behind us, and there is a second one creeping up behind us. [[Arturim]] walks up and stabs the skull with his sword, then follows up with a punch before plunging the sword into the skull again, as it crumbles into a small pile of bones. [[Quinn]] shoots the remaining skull, nearly shattering it. It then cackles and shoots a beam of fire, hitting Quinn and Murfy. Murfy notices that as the fire deflects off of his shield, a white shadowy shield seems to be blocking the fire from the books. Then some shadowy cloaked figures whisper behind us, and hover around the room. As it whispers, two more appear and all three seem to surround us as they keep muttering. As the figure whispers at Murfy, he feels an immense confusion. He looks to where Arturim was standing, and sees [[Aidren]], and can’t help but take out his dagger and attack him with his whole heart. Arturim sees Murfy pull out the dagger, and before he has a chance to react, time stops. Time resumes, and Arturim’s body is on fire, his hand is white hot, and he falls unconscious. Then, Quinn looks at Arturim, and also sees Aidren. He tries to attack Arturim, but misses, and the illusion falls revealing an injured Arturim, on his last legs. Murfy is paralyzed from the realization of what he has just done to Arturim. Arturim shatters the last skull and hits one of the shadowy figures. The figures then continue muttering and babbling, and suddenly Arturim doesn’t know what he’s looking at. The faces around him are constantly shifting and transforming, and his vision is blurred. Murfy looks around to where Quinn was, and sees Aidren. Quinn looks very confused at Murfy, before time stops again, then resumes. Quinn’s armor is white hot, and he can’t feel anything as his body burns, and Murfy is paralyzed again. Arturim attacks and kills one of the figures with four destructive blows, absorbing its life force, and Quinn attacks another. Then the shadows attack Murfy once again, swirling around him and attacking his mind. Arturim kills the second figure, leaving one remaining for Quinn. He charges his Heirloom bow and hits it, banishing it to another plane and killing it at the same time. The library is quiet now, except for the shrill cries of Murfy, who lies on the floor. He grabs a small bottle and pours it on himself as he gets up and immediately begins apologizing for his actions. Arturim, Murfy, and Quinn wander around the library through the randomly turning and twisting, and Murfy assumes it is organized in the same way as [[The Ravens]], except on a much larger scale. Arturim and Murfy are completely lost, and can’t seem to find any trail or path. However, Quinn starts to connect some books together, and follows a path that he made as he went, until they all came out at a fountain. Looking below the pool of water at the bottom of the fountain, Quinn instinctively checks for portals, and this is one. Judging by the sheer scale of the library alone, he can’t even begin to imagine how big the entire building must be. Murfy picks up some of the water and examines it closer, but it seems to just be water, but with a red coloration. Arturim jumps in on a whim, and after giving Murfy an odd glance Quinn jumps in as well, then Murfy. They all appear in a large room that is just lighter than dark, and they are in what appears to be some kind of dungeon, with various cells all over the place in an organizational mess. There are no square cages, just meshes of iron bars and metal. Murfy sees that this is a very strong illusion spell. Each cell is a portal to a real cell, except for one. Walking along the path, there is a small cry of a woman. Murfy follows the path to a tea at the confusion of Arturim and Quinn, until they reach a cell where there is a small woman that only Murfy can see. Quinn and Arturim look baffled, as it seems to them that Murfy is talking to a wall. Murfy takes a bottle of acid and throws it at the handcuffs, which melt. The lady thanks us and introduces herself as [[Scarlet Ravenhardt]]. She says that she has been trapped here for a very long time, and that Aidren killed the rest of her family. The adventurers only had a very vague idea of who her family was, reading at some point that the family bought products or pieces of art and sold them for a higher price. They purchased many of the auction items from the old legion of revenants headquarters. She points to a direction in which the people that usually feed her walk down the right hallway, but Murfy is determined on the left hallway, so she agrees to follow. Weaving through the various hallways and focusing on the right paths, Murfy leads the group to eventually a door with some sigils on it unknown to any of the three, but Scarlet reads it and says it means “key” in abyssal. After some deep thinking, Quinn casts a spell, and all of them step through the wall, revealing a swirled glass pattern which forms a more traditional style of portal. Arturim walks up and sticks his hand in, and it just feels cold. Murfy identifies this floating sphere just as Arturim pulls his hand out, except his hand is gone. Murfy attempts to control it, but fails. The sphere begins moving, but its glass cracks and begins pulling all of them in. suddenly, they are all in a very large room, with endless paintings of their battles with Aidren, piles of gold everywhere, all leading up to a large portal, where they can all sense his power beyond it. Scarlet looks around, and realizes that the hoard belongs to her family. She also says that Aidren stole a very specific box from them, one that hides whatever is put in it. There is no possible way to open the silvery box, it's almost like a brick. She doesn’t know where it is, but that Aidren will be able to be killed for good. As Scarlet and the adventurers talk, Murfy notices shadows in the distance. Five wraiths emerge and begin flying around all of them, as well as a large whited out eye. Uhhhh, we killed them all(idk i was taking a shower, time to whip this fight up into existence in a month when i finally get to re-writing this session) they all step up to the portal, and walk through. There he stands, sword in hand, and for the first time in a long time, his mouth moves, and he says “you.” clouds form around the area, and it is almost as if day and night are existing at the same time. He says “I have waited so long for this. You lose everything today, and I gain everything. Scarlet dear, did you tell them you keep defeating me?” they look back, and scarlet is now in beautiful armor, and explains how she had spider spies. Quinn shoots an arrow at Aidren, but he phases and it passes through him. I reap the life of the skeletal figure beside Aidren. I absorb his life force and see all of his memories. He was the right hand mage of Aidren. He knows where his phylactery is located, every event he helped Aidren with, and all of the little intricacies about Aidren. Scarlet looks at Quinn and says “I’m terribly sorry,” before summoning a swarm of bats. Quinn conjures a massive volley of arrows, obliterating all of the bats instantly, which angered Scarlet. Murfy then starts to concentrate on a spell, and Aidren turns his double bladed scimitar into shifted scimitars. He then struck the ground, releasing an intense wave of lightning across the ground and paralyzing Arturim and Murfy. Quinn strikes scarlet with an arrow, and Aidren approaches Arturim. Suddenly, four more of him appear and surround Arturim. He attacks with all of his figures, heavily injuring Arturim, then casting a healing spell on himself. Arturim turns invisible and walks behind scarlet, but not without being spotted and attacked by Aidren. Scarlet disappears into a newly formed mist, and Quinn channels a spell to empower himself and make the terrain more difficult for Aidren and Scarlet. Aidren then walks over to Arturim and says “Where do you think you’re going?”. Murfy casts enlarge on Arturim, and he grows much bigger. Arturim attacks Aidren, dealing a sufficient amount of damage.
