The Breaking of Zetzwarian

The Tale of the Breaking of Zetzwarian  has been told at bonfire occasions in the Rhyddan territories for centuries. It tells of how the Old Gods of fire and earth, Kizendara and Bezantheram, jealous that Zetzwarian gifted the Source to humans, plotted his demise by creating a weapon forged with their combined powers. They made a spear, called the Glowing Ashes. While Bezantheram assisted in the creation of the weapon, he refused to stand with Kizendara when she challenged Zetzwarian. During the battle, Kizendara pierced Zetzwarian's chest with the spear, even as he tore out her core. As is the habit of Gógari, they promptly fell into dust, leaving no trace of their bodies.   It is said that the Glowing Ashes still lies the Headstone of the The F'Zyr. The Purgers led an expedition in the year 499 of the Purge Era, after the Rise of the Storms  to retrieve the weapon, but never returned. The expedition was declared a failure.
It is estimated that the Breaking of Zetzwarian  occurred some time in the year 367 of the Puritan Age. There are pieces of records that survived the multiple fires of Kaerup's Archives, which scholars widely hold to be witness accounts of their battle: fire in the skies, bolts of utter darkness, and thunderous voices crying out. However, it is not clear from these scraps of torched vellum whether this is an account of any battle between the Gods, or unusually bad weather.   The House of the Decendants of Sonoderi maintain that Zetzwarian was not destroyed but that, after killing Kizendara, he ascended to the stars to await his rebirth.
