Zeran Vey

Zeran Vey (a.k.a. The Fool)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Zeran, even as a child, has been obsessed with learning about what lies outside Fenvalur Forest. As a result of this obsession Zeran has been labelled by the head of the Soraphei, Varin Arise, to be nothing short of a fool. While the people of Soraphei refuse to help Zeran in his endeavours, he is not considered to be an outcast, most of the villagers treat him no differently except for when he tries to learn about the outside world, earning him a nickname of The Fool. Zeran's mother Marin Vey, and father Tyran Vey live modest lives within the village, Marin collects berries, while Tyran is the village tailor. Zeran's parents while supportive of his passion, remain on the side of Varin, believing it is unwise to venture out of the village for too long, more so desiring Zeran to remain in the village as they do not wish to see him harmed or worse, dead. Zeran's closest and oldest friend Erin Naphei is perhaps the only Elf within Soraphei that actually supports him and also wishes to venture outside the forest for herself. Zeran and Erin have been friends for years, and both wish to explore the world, while Zeran is quite open about his desire to the other Elves, Erin keeps her desire a secret from most, only really opening up to Zeran. Their close friendship and shared desire to leave Soraphei leads to Erin helping to convince Varin that at the very least Zeran should be permitted to venture to a nearby town as his research could lead to benefits within the community, such as discovering useful materials or more food variety.

Education

Zeran as a child was educated in a small school within Soraphei Village, yet once he left, and even during those years at the school Zeran is self taught via the books he has read.

Employment

While officially Zeran is unemployed, Zeran will forever proclaim himself to be a researcher of the truths of the world, and argue with most that the position while not financially beneficial is largely beneficial to ones own wisdom and knowledge.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Marin & Tyran Vey - Zeran's parents, while supportive of his passion they would rather him stay within Soraphei.
Varin Arise - The High Elf chosen as the head of Soraphei, and the main Elf responsible for prohibiting Zeran's research on the outside world. Erin Naphei - A childhood friend of Zeran's, who shares his enthusiasm and curiosity about researching the outside world. She is also partially responsible for Zeran finally being allowed to venture out of the forest. While the two have a mutual and close friendship, both are quite fond of the other in more than just a platonic manner.
Ari Havenstream - An odd human residing in Donegrin that Zeran has somewhat befriended. Ari allows Zeran to store his research his temple archives.

High elf living his life inside the Fenvalur Forest, wise enough to know to put his own desires and ambition before any trivial concept of good or evil, and curious enough about the world to venture outside of the forest.

Progress Made In Spite Of Societal Cowardice
14th of Venitaestus 795 PB

Curse these foolish Elves. All claim to be wise and know the world beyond these trees, yet none seem to accept travelling outside beyond the forest they call home. How am I supposed to uncover the secrets of the world if those around me, who claim to be my peers and allies, refuse to let me research the outside lands? How can I possibly uncover the unseen truths of the world if I only have access to the knowledge of these cowardly reclusive Elves? Cowards they be, and cowards they remain. After years of arguing with these so called wise Elves I am finally able to travel outside the forest, though I am forbidden from travelling further from Donegrin. I wonder what would happen if I travelled further? How would they know? Regardless, tomorrow I shall set out to Donegrin, I shall finally see with my own two eyes what lies outside this forest. Maybe, just maybe I can figure out a way to convince these Elves to let me explore the world to acquire more knowledge and truths about the current world. Sapere aude.
