Zama Regia

Zama Regia is known as the City of Stars for a reason. It's the one place in the Empire where everyone is a star, and people go simply to have a good time. Performers, gamblers, courtesans, adventurers and partygoers all thrive in Zama Regia, and it's where many of them make their fortune. To live in Zama Regia is to be incredibly rich. There is no slum district, and anyone who hits a certain level of poverty is evicted from the city and many move to the nearby floating town of Saltbottom. A common saying is, "The streets are paved with gold in Zama Regia, and every citizen a star."

Government

Zama Regia, while coming under the jurisdiction of the Ravalonian Empire, functions mostly independently as a city-state. It can make its' own laws on the most part and is a refuge for the wealthy. The poor are illegal, and if you're found to be living under a certain bracket of earning you will be exiled from the city. The city currently has an ex-adventurer as governor in the form of Ozilius, the tiefling bard, who favours adventurers and performers. He is being openly challenged by a consortium of guildmasters, led by Matron Kattica Morvon.

Infrastructure

DISTRICTS

Citadel:
Where the Governor resides. Originally built by Bluefury as their base of adventuring. This is also where royalty of the Empire or visiting royals from other nations would stay.
  Glassgate:
The Artisan district, where many famous painters, sculptors, writers, and performers make their craft. Many theatres and art galleries.

Light Road:
The Merchant district. The largest market, Rainbow Square, lies here. Full of warehouses, storage, and shops galore.

The Lawn
The decadent park, filled with marble statues and huge fountains and exotic plants and birds.

East Road
Residential and tourist district. Just generally filled with rich people, tourists, casinos, resorts, and hotels.

Sunrise Port
The merchant shipping district. Lots of colourful characters and famous merchants live and operate here, coming to and fro to do trade. The most multicultural area, populated by people from everywhere on the Great Trade Coast, along with the Coral Coast and even Fenvalor and Jillibrett.

South Port
The docking spot for adventurers, explorers, and just the generally famous. Another tourism area where foreign delegations are often welcomed.

Oakrest
The adventurers' district, where old adventurers come to retire and new adventurers come to reside. Competition for quests is intense, and people who are in the know would be aware of the planar portals used for travel, along with an entrance to the enormous megadungeon of Steelemaze.

Egwell
Often called "Little Jillibrett" by the Zama Regians, this region was settled by gnomish inventors who didn't want to be subject to Jillibrett's patent system or the Empire's invention taxes.

Churchan's Gate
The religious and arcane centre of the city, deemed a necessity by the empire and founded by Ravalonian priests headed by Archmaster Churchan. There was a certain level of disdain towards the priests, viewed as the watchful eye of Ravalon. In response, arcanists and rival religious groups moved in and now it's one of the most religiously diverse places in the Empire.

History

Zama Regia was originally founded by a party of adventurers called Bluefury who grew very rich and settled the island after the Empire attempted to tax them. The wealthy flocked to the small island settlement after a tax-free haven, and it grew into a large town. The citizens only became more and more wealthy over time due to being in a prime position in The Great Trade Sea, and it became a very powerful city-state.
