Ravalon

Ravalon is the capital and origin of the Ravalonian Empire, where ambitious Dwarves carved out a city deep within a cliffside behind a great waterfall for its' rich Luwhine and marble deposits. The Dwarves, however, dug far too deep and ambitiously, and dug straight into the lair of the mighty tarrasque. The tarrasque was released onto the world and immediately killed thousands within its first minutes. The Dwarves were beholden when a divine woman descended from the heavens, speaking the words: "in the name of the mother, heart return to bone." With that, the tarrasque was frozen in place and the earth beneath it opened up. It fell into the centre of the world where it is told to be encased to this day. The divine woman ascended once more without a word, but the once unholy Dwarves now considered themselves the Mother's chosen, and sought to bring her light to the rest of Eustronda who had long since abandoned her word for the word of the Successor Gods. The city today is physically unrecognisable from the Dwarven mine complex of the past. A huge marble city has been built atop and over the waterfall, where most of the upper class, government, and clergy reside. The rest of the city has grown in the huge mining complex up and down the cliffside, a deadly maze to the uninitiated but familiar streets of stone to those who live there. The city is impenetrable by nature, as any invading force would be divided and destroyed by the guards of the undercity, mashed up by the enormous waterfall and river filled with loyal Merfolk, or would be attacked from the sky by the holy elite knights called the Fallriders, who mount griffons for battle and patrol in aid of the city.
