The Xaishe are a merfolk culture that live throughout the Sinien Ocean. The majority of their settlements are walled cities, with their capital currently being the great city of Erevenor. Prior to their conquest of Erevenor around two centuries ago, their capital was the city of Xajai.
The Xaishe are a martial and pragmatic people, with both girls and boys trained in combat and self-defence from an early age. As a culture, they have domesticated a species of shark known as the bastion shark, and use them for both defence and battle.
Are the walled cities of the merfolk domes? I suppose they would have to be; it’s an interesting engineering challenge to support a dome large enough to cover a city and sturdy enough to withstand attack.
I was envisioning normal walls, and also like suspended anti attack buildings higher up. Domes might make more sense though. Definitely need more thought about that sort of thing.
