The Tower of the Watcher

A temple to Hakan, god of the sun

The Tower of the Watcher is one of the last temples to Hakan, the sun god, one of the numerous deities of the Koushan Mai. It is built into the side of a steep cliff above the village of Tensem'a Sten.   It is built from pale limestone, and is five storeys high - each level is dedicated to one of the five aspects of Hakan. At the top of the tower there are five spires that point into the sky. Each spire, as well as the top storey, used to be plated in gold to reflect the sun, but this was stripped several centuries ago to make the building less conspicuous from afar. The gold is buried beneath the temple.

Why is this one of the last temples to Hakan? Did the sun god fall out of favor?

More that the Seruic and Caillish pushed out the Koushan Mai and dismantled their temples to use the stones for other building projects.
