The Akaran people are the most populous ethnicity in the country of Akara. They are known for their sprawling cities that spiral out from a central pyramid. These pyramids are not religious in nature, but cultural, serving as the city's centre of power.
The vast majority follow the religion of Dalenism, which forbids the consumption of alcohol. Akara's national drink, surmel, was invented as a bracing alternative.
I am curious about those pyramids! How do they function as a cultural center?
I picture them as a mixture between like a town hall and a courthouse. Like all the important bureaucratic stuff gets done there, and it's where you have to go if you want to talk to anyone with power.
