Saltmire
A tiny island
This article is a stub. Please comment if you would like it to become a priority for expansion.
Saltmire is a tiny island off the northwest coast of Serukis. It ostensibly falls under the juridisction of Serukis but, in practice, the mainland hardly ever involves itself in the island's affairs. The island has population of around one hundred people over three settlements.
Whilst Saltmire is notable for its rocky coasts and stretches of sandy beaches, the majority of the island is made up of salt marshes. The harvest of Seruic cockles makes up the majority of the Saltlanders economy, though they also fish and herd sheep.
An island with these characteristics often has trouble with their fresh water supply - is that the case here, and if so, how have the locals dealt with it?
I was thinking rainwater would do a lot of heavy lifting, though I'm going to research methods of desalination too and see if there's anything there.
