Coldspring

  Coldspring is a small village in northern Kaien, nestled in the upper foothills of the Teeth. The settlement endures long winters, with snow on the ground for at least four or five months of the year. It has a population of less than one hundred, though this number swells during the summers with seasonal workers. These workers come to labour in the nearby limestone quarries. To accomodate this influx, the village has three large boarding houses, which are all but abandoned for the rest of the year.   The village was founded at the sight of a small spring that bubbles up from beneath the ground just to the north. The stream flows past the village for about a mile, before disappearing again underground. It is believed that this spring has healing properties, but it also functions as a vital source of fresh water for the village.
