"So tell me why again you want me to give you an embarrasing story of mine?" Calhoon looked between the two Sazashi flanking him. Ja-guen, his lover on his right, and on his left, a new fast friend they made, Hor'rus.
"Come now, Calhoon." Hor'rus coaxed, twirling a claw around the rim of his glass. "What better way to get the awkward out by sharing a learning moment in your life, and one that we can all laugh about."
"I'll give my story after yours." Ja-guen placed his offer on the table, and it sure was tempting.
"Alright, alright fine. But don't laugh okay?"
"On our honor." Both Sazashi gave their word, and Calhoon sighed out.
"So my parents always told me that I was grown in a space station cabbage patch, aaaand I thought that was the truth until I was seventeen years old." He blurted out the last part, and looked up to Ja-guen. He could not be prepared for the mournful expression on Ja-guen's face, like he just admitted to being a lost and beaten puppy.
"Does that mean you didn't learn about sex until you were seventeen?" Indeed he spoke as if the very concept was a slight. "You poor thing!"
"It wasn't so bad at the time, but looking back on it that is pretty sad, huh?" Calhoon admitted.
"You just had a much different childhood than me! Makes me glad I found you first, so I could 'introduce you.'" Ja-guen's frown flicked into a grin, and he leaned in to leave a kiss on Calhoon's cheek. "It's a good story."
Hor'rus finally spoke, "So they taught you that you were synthetically grown? Now, I hope you don't mind but I have to know how the story went. It sounds like an adorable peek into humanity."
Ja-guen looked past Calhoon to Hor'rus, then back to Calhoon. "Your choice, love. You passed my embarrassing story test."
Calhoon swiveled in his chair, plucking his drink from the table. "Alright fine, but only cause I trust you."
Births in Space
Most vessels with a modest crew have an infirmary capable of performing an emergency delivery. Larger vessels may have an entire clinic for use.
Newborns are placed in protective nursery pods to prevent diseases and Meissner Warping Syndrome.
In most situations, the newborn takes on the birthright citizenship of the Ship's Banner.
