Baikal Captain's Journal

While the away crew was on Kilnrest, Dimmu searched the ship and found a tattered, leatherbound journal with notes from one of the previous captains.   Inside, it suggests some of the trials the crew will face as they continue to sail westward.

Narissa looked at Dimmu, who nodded. In his usual tired monotone, he spoke. "I dug through the ship's logs. Even before the world collapsed there were ghosts for a generation or two, and this region in particular has a notorious amount. The Baikal is outfitted with an electric grid like the trundler, but... Em?"     The Gearheart grunted and nudged her shoulder against Stenem. The boy looked around. His eyes were wide and bloodshot, his face clammy. His lower lip was frayed and bloody. He took a fresh bite from his lip before speaking.     "Me and Em and Misha were looking around the ship and it's hard to tell how much of the grid is still there. The Voshurrans probably stripped a lot of it out to power their city. We might be able to get enough to protect the main section here, but that will take time and we can't afford to stop and do it otherwise that... thing will catch up—"     "So we'll have to do it on the go, which means we will probably hit ghosts before we are ready for them," Narissa finished.     "They spoke of other things as well, I learned a lot from the book," Dimmu said, patting a small leather journal in his hand. "He wasn't the most talkative, but I found logs of shipwrecks, subzero nights, rogue currents, and sea monsters."     Em whimpered and buried her face in her hands.     "We've got our work cut out for us," Dimmu said.
